I have plenty of friends both from RL and online--and from many different places I go online.

I've got a lot of friends in real life. I frequently see four of my five best friends (One moved back to Russia for the year) and many "casual" (I can't think of a better word) friends I also see frequently. Then there's the old friends I keep in touch with, friends on my street, so yeah, I've got a bunch of friends.

Online, friends come and go. Nowadays you guys are the only people I talk to on the internet. (Apart from friends from real life)

I said about five. I really have 7, though.

Eh. I have friends. But not many really good friends; as Ju Ju said, more "casual".

And I have more friends than you guys on the net, but few.

Yes, I have friends IRL. But I'm not sure whether I should pick the first or second option in the poll, because I have a few friends in a lot of places, so it's kinda hard to count all of them.

None to one. I'm afraid that the loss of contact by my real life friend caused us to not be friends anymore. We'll see on the 23rd what happens.

I have a lot. I don't really consider people on the internet as 'friends'. I mean, come on. You have never talked to them in real life, you might not even have seen their faces. You don't go to their house, birthday parties, ride around town on your bike, or just hang out. You just talk on the internet. I just don't think they constitute as friends.

I find it hard to believe that people don't have friends. It's not hard to 'find' a friend, you just have to be yourself. If you actually don't have friends, I think that you mentally, with out knowing it, don't want to have friends.

That's not always true. People meet online as friends and then meet up IRL frequently. My closest friend is a guy I met over the Internet. We've shared pictures and videos of each other, chatted a lot on the phone, and he was even able to visit me for my birthday last year...and it was easily the best birthday I ever had because of that. So it's not a "never see them IRL" situation.

Well, I wouldn't exactly be too into meeting someone I meet on the internet...It'd be very akward.

Hey, I've met someone in real life that I knew from this forum. It was a bit akward at first, but after that, I had a great time with her.

I do have friends outside the interwebs. There's only so much you can do online, as compared to in real life with your friends.

Yes, I do. But my bestest of friends are on the internet. I voted about five. Because there are five that I consider good friends in real life. The rest are just acquantences.

I voted for the "a few" option. I only consider one of my RL friends very close, but I have lots and lots that I'm not that close to.

A lot of my online friends are better than my RL ones. And I definitely plan on meeting some of them someday.

Tonnes.

"Tons" wasn't enough. So I added the English "e" and an extra "n" to add to the effect.

I stay with one group of friends; there's probably about 10 of us. I hardly ever see most of them, though, as our schedules fill up fast. I have more friends out in town than I've ever had online. My MSN list has 4 people on it.

I have one absolutely best friend ever in real life, and some other less-close friends. So a couple. I only work well with a few close friends.

I think there should've been higher options that 9+ though. I mean, 9? It should've gone much higher.

Yeah, no kidding. I've got like eleventy-billion MySpace friends. I'm constantly saying things like "Thanks for the add!" and "Will U friend me?"

On a less facetious note, I feel that I have plenty of friends. My closest friends would include my wife, my siblings, and my parents. On another level, I have a couple of people from high school and a couple of people from college that I am in contact with relatively often, and that I would definately look up if I were to be in the same city as them for a while. Most common would be people that I have I have a more "structured" relationship with. People I play basketball with, people I go to church with, people I work with, people whose wives are best friends with my wife, people on a certain forum I frequent. There are lots of people in this group that I like, and I enjoy their company or whatever. It's just that outside of our one common interest, we don't really interact. But between those 3 levels, I feel that I have lots of friends.

But I also know how it can feel to only have that 3rd level of friends as well. Most of high school I only had friends on that lower level, and I never really felt as if I was part of a group. It was pretty lonely. Even the people whom I now count as close friends from high school weren't really close friends back then. It's more that since then, for some reason, we stayed in contact, or were put back in contact, and our deeper level of friendship more or less solidified after the "structured" element of high school had fallen away.

I don't exactly think that MySpace friends counts as "outside of the internet'
