Gay, Hay, Pay, Fray, May, and Play all end with "-ay", so the " 'they' and 'grey' end the same way so it has to be right" argument doesn't really hold any water.

You make a compelling argument sir, well done. I guess I wasn't really going anywhere with my... "theory". All I had was one piece of evidence, and now you step in with... *counts*...5 pieces of evidence! What can I say, I guess I got served. I guess my only argument now is, "grey" just looks more natural. But that's in my eyes, "gray" obviously looks more acceptable to you.

I lost a spelling bee in 2nd grade over "grey". I totally could have owned that bee, too. I knew EVERY word on the list the teacher was using, well, every word but gray..

Dang The Cheat... I would've thought they would've accepted both. Sure... that would lower the level of difficulty, but STILL! Grey is one of those words that is acceptable in two different methods of spelling. Then again, it's also one of those words that varies in spelling from place to place...

I just don't know captain!

its something to do with the letters.
Grey is a very dull colour and using and e in Grey makes it look dull.
using an A reminds me of Grey being brighter, maybe white-ish.

weird,i know.

That's the same with me.

Of course, being the moron i am, I clicked the wrong one.

Oh, I thought of another reason. Grey is dull. Gray sounds like yay. Yay is not dull. Therefore, I spell it grey.

Synthesia has nothing to do with Asperger's syndrome as far as I know.
