Me, it's gray.

for me its Grey.
its something to do with the letters.
Grey is a very dull colour and using and e in Grey makes it look dull.
using an A reminds me of Grey being brighter, maybe white-ish.

weird,i know.

Gray, since it is the correct, preferred spelling in American English.

I spell it gray, for the same reasons as Rad. It's the typical, American way.

Well, obviously the Americans are going to choose "gray", and since this forum is almost entirely American...

I think I use gray most of the time, but sometimes I write it grey. I always forget which is the "right" way to spell it (Though I guess this shows there really isn't a true right way)

Grey, since it is the correct, preferred spelling in British English, which we all know is far superiour to American English. ;) Seriously, though, I prefer some of the British spellings, such as theatre, faerie, and in this case, grey.

Grey.

I am the least British person ever, but grey > gray. I dunno, grey just LOOKS right.

Yeah, I'm weird. Leemie alone.

And as for SR and Rammy, so what if it's proper in America? British spelling is much cooler than American. Besides, the British have funnier swearwords. :p

You're in America, so speak American!

:p

As for your post einoo, it's just how I was raised. Back when I was a young boy, they taught us it was spelled gray.

well, being australian, i should spell it grey, but i don't like to.
it does cause a little trouble in english class, if they decide to teach english.

Grey. Gray just doesn't... look right. Neither does grey, but it's better. Plus it's British! Even though I'm American, it doesn't mean I have to like it. :p

I ALWAYS spell it "grey". "gray" just seems... awkward to me... Grey definitely looks like it belongs. I mean, look at "they". That has the exact same sound as grey, and it's spelled with the same suffix! Or you know... some sort of affix.

Grey all the way!

"Grey" is British eh? Well then that settles my vote! I have a bit of British in my background, and some people even say I have a British accent. So I guess grey is my cup o' tea. Hee hee, get it? Ah whatever...

Grey seems flatter, just because gray seems taller. And flatness reminds me of the blandness of the color grey. The gray just seems more exciting.

And I associate the letter E with yellow, and the letter A with red. And yellow can get pretty boring, while red just jumps out at you.

Gay, Hay, Pay, Fray, May, and Play all end with "-ay", so the " 'they' and 'grey' end the same way so it has to be right" argument doesn't really hold any water.

Gray. I think it's because in first grade, a person had the last name gray, and it sort of stuck. Or maybe it was Grey. Either way, that person's last name influenced me.

Are you one of those synthasete (or whatever they're called) people, Toppy?

Also, I've always spelled it gray out of habit, 'cause I'm American.

No, I just associate colors with things. Like so:

A- red
E- yellow
I- blue
O- some darker blue
U- Purple
Y- pink
I don't know why, but it just works like that.

I could do the days of the week, the months of the year, or the entire rest of the alphabet, but I don't wanna.
