A mod gave me the okay, so here's a compilation of all the holidays that we "celebrate" here at the Homestar Runner Wiki Forum. Please do NOT post here, begging to add a holiday to the list for any reason. That's spam. I didn't say so, a mod did. However, DO post here to correct any mistakes I might have made.
Here it go.
May 11th: Robot Assimilation Day
Also Called: Robot Day, R. A. Day
First Celebrated: May 11, 2005
Started By: AgentSeethroo
Celebration: Users choose sides with the robots and the humans. Robots gain robot names, while humans gain ranks in front of their username. The two armies duke it out in a designated thread, occasionally spilling over into the rest of the Forum, until the day is over.
Other: In the first celebration, AgentSeethroo led the robots, though he later switched sides, and JohnTheTinyCowboy led the humans. The fighting took place in the thread Those Evil 'Bots, started by The Experimental Film.
May 29th: 1936 Day
Also Called: N/A
First Celebrated: May 28-29, 2005
Started By: Shopiom
Celebration: Users change their avatars to grayscale and usernames to "old-timey" names, and begin to talk in an upper-class kind of way. [STOP] is commonly used instead of periods, and signatures and locations are affected too.
Other: Shopiom decided to create a new holiday after suggesting that we brainstorm new ones in New forum day suggestions, started by Shopiom.
July 7th: Negative Day
Also Called: N/A
First Celebrated: July 7th, 2005
Started By: Acekirby
Celebration: Users are encouraged to change their username to something that is significantly "not them", and to invert the colors of their avatars and banners. Speech is also often changed to the opposite of the real meaning.
Other: Negative Day was cancelled about twelve hours after it began, because of the spamming in its starting thread.
August 24th: Revert-Back Day
Also Called: N/A
First Celebrated: August 24th, 2005
Started By: ramrod
Celebration: Users are encouraged to revert their avatar, signature, location, and username to whatever they had on the first day they joined the Forum.
Other: Several users found this hard to do, as many had forgotten what they once had.
Labor Day: Translate your name day
Also Called: N/A
First Celebrated: Labor Day, 2005 (can someone give me the exact date?)
Started By: Beyond the Grave
Celebration: Users are encouraged to translate their usernames to a different language, and replace their current ones with the translated ones.
Other: N/A
September 19th: (National) Talk Like a Pirate Day
Also Called: Pirate vs. Ninja Day
First Celebrated: September 19th - 20th, 2005
Started By: The Experimental Film (only PvN Day)
Celebration: Users were encouraged to choose between a pirate or a ninja, and duke it out in a predestined thread. The pirates won, as the ninjas were vastly outnumbered.
Other: The date for Pirate vs. Ninja Day was specifically intended to be on National Talk Like a Pirate Day, and the celebration was set almost a month before.
That's it (for the time being). I move that we don't have any more holidays until October, at the very least.
To reiterate (does that even make sense here?): You may post here with suggestions, but nothing for new holidays.
