Thank you for the bugs and suggestions. It is a great help to me, in order to make my level editor better.

Quote:
* To me it doesn't make sense to hide the player start point in the level properties dialog. It's nicer to have it available in one of the menus directly, but what would make even more sense is to just allow it to be draggable like platforms or any other game object.

It is in the menus, Object -> Set Starting Point. I might make it draggable.

Quote:
* Give objects some default values instead of zeroes so that they can operate "out of the box" so that users arn't left guessing. In addition, please remember which page of objects a user was last on.

Good idea, will do.

Quote:
* If the user accidentally closes the application, there is no warning to save changes before closing, the editor is simple closed and any changes lost. Include a dialog to accomodate this.

Those dialog boxes are annoying, but ok. I'll make it ask you only if the file is altered, though.

Quote:
* There is no way to delete the playtest starting point.

Yeah, if I made starting points draggable and selectable like other objects, I could have the user press delete. I'll do that.

Quote:
* Undo and redo are very buggy. I have seen undo make items appear that never existed in the level and generally create a mess. Using undo and redo a few times easily throws an "Object variable with block not set" error, which means that an object variable is not pointing to any instance of an object when you try to use it. My disposition is that you should remove this feature until the bugs are worked out of it. It's not particularly needed anyway.

I need to start over on those aspects of the program. They are pretty bad.

Quote:
* It would be nice to see an object list editor, such as you might find in a 3D package. An interface that lists all the objects currently loaded into your level and gives you the ability to select, edit, delete or hide them using the list. This is most useful for a crowded level. This approach would also require that objects have uniquely identifying names.

Personally, I would never use this for Stinkoman. But to compromise, I'll make check boxes next to the list of levels to include objects for, so you could enable only objects in a certain level.

Quote:
* Include `Properties` option in the right click context menu for objects.

Check.

Quote:
All in all, a good effort, but what's the Flash.oca file for?

I'm pretty sure my program needs it to playtest levels. It shows up as a reference.

Quote:
Your last two file mirrors also do not work.

Grr, I hate it when they don't let me link to my own file. I'll make a web page with the link on it.

Quote:
Finally, the source code would make an interesting read.

I'm hesitant.

Its great! I like the sticky thing where it automaticly sticks to something else. The picture objects arent the best. Can you make 2 menus where in options or something you can change between pictures and words? the full view should still be included

Do NOT quote super longs posts like that. It's common sense.

I don't know what you're talking about. I'm from Peoria, Arizona. I just made this account really quick so I could post my level editor.

You mean so it displays faster? Like a cartoony version of the graphics? Or are you complaining about the red lines?

Welcome to the forum SuperJoe30!

I have a question are their new instructions on how to do this with the new versions? Is their a separate guide to editing each individual level/world?

Thanks. You mean with the new versions of the actual Stinkoman game? No, when that happens I've just been updating my editor so that it works with the new version. Whenever I update, I post it here:

Sorry about the double post, but I think I'm entitled one for releasing my next version of my Stinkoman Level Editor.

Download it here:
http://joesarcade.hopto.org:8093/stinkoman.zip

This mirror will be available soon, I'm still uploading it with my dial-up connection.

Check out the new features: Object Filters, Publishing, Undo and Redo fixed, and more.

It's not considered a double post, superjoe, since the posts were more than 3 hours apart.

Are you sure? Because I know my level editor doesn't overwrite any files when it runs.

Otherwise check the recycle bin in case you deleted them.

Yeah, there's certain file positioning you have to do. If you have my level editor, you can press File -> Publish and leave all the levels as default, select a save location, and press "Publish." Then go into the folder you published it in, and look at the files and directories.

In case you don't want to do that, here's the file positioning you have to do:

In the top directory, place stinkogame.swf and objectLibrary.swf
In the top directory, create a folder called "levelData"
In the levelData folder, you need the levels. (level1.1.1.xml, level1.1.2.xml, ...)
In the top directory, create a folder called "externalSwf"
In the externalSwf folder, you need the cutscenes. (cutscene1.1.1.swf, cutscene1.1.2.swf, ...)

Hey guys,
I've gotten right to work on adding compadibility with level 7. I predict it will be complete by Wednesday night, July 16.

I can only put my file on GeoCities and maybe Tripod and I have very small bandwidth, so if anyone could host it for me that would be nice.

3: Get in that file, look for levelEditing and look for notepad
4: Paste formula

Ok, sorry about the delay, I've been pretty busy.

EDIT: Aw, crap. Alright, you have to go to my main site, and click on the link from there. It's at the top on the right.

I have a feeling the bandwidth will get all used up. Tomorrow morning, when I get on a faster internet connection I'll post another mirror.

peter4ever0, if you could download it and host it for me I would greatly appreciate it.

If I left something out or goofed something up, please tell me right away so I can fix it.

Awright. I uploaded it. It should be avalible for download at : http://habboglobe.ath.cx/stinkomanleveleditor/stinkoman.zip

EDIT: Feh. LOL. Right on time. You just ran out of bandwidth.

EDITEDIT: Some things are missing.. The playtest loads up as nothing. I think you may need to get the new .swfs, cutscenes, and where they keep the pictures.

EDITEDITEDIT: Im right... Just delete the objectLibrary.swf and the stinkomangame.swf and reload the editor.

Thank you very much for hosting it for me. Yeah, I forgot to tell everyone,
you have to delete the old swf files.
In the level editor directory, delete stinkogame.swf and objectLibrary.swf.

Ok, so there are 3 mirrors now:

Boy this sure isn't a very active forum. I expected a bunch of people to post responses, complaints, compliments, and criticism.

Could somebody please help me by providing a list of all the files I need to download to get editing to work with the newest version. I seem to have everything, but its not working. How come it doesn't let me download the whole folder?

1. Download the file.
2. In the level editor directory, delete stinkogame.swf and objectLibrary.swf.
3. Unzip the file in the level editor directory, overwriting all existing files.
4. Run Stinkoman.exe.
5. Select File -> Publish. At the bottom of the form, click Browse. Select a file location and press Publish. Go to the folder you published it in and you'll see the files you need.

I mean if you want to do it the text type way. I wouldn't be allowed to download a program to do something like this.

each of these:
stinkogame.html
stinkogame.swf
objectLibrary.swf
create a folder named "levelData"
inside of levelData put a folder named "level1.1.1.xml" and use that for editing
