Lightweights, all of you!

Handbuilt Athlon 64 3000+, 512MB (seriously need an upgrade), 160GB storage. Lame Radeon AIW 32MB videocard.

Just spent two hours reinstalling Apache, MySQL, PHP, configuring PEAR.

Currently figuring out how to set up a proxy server locally so I can tunnel traffic from work. Cower before my geekitude!

Ha! Dell 4600, 3ghz P4 HT, 1gb RAM, SB Live! 5.1 (commercial version, not Dell's knock-off), Flat panel monitor. I also went to Tweak XP and leeted my machine by deactivating all the unnecessary services (and uninstalling all the unnecessary Dell service applications). Also, I use a program called TuneXP to make it run even faster. Download it and give it a shot. 16X DVD installed, plus a 48x24x48 CDRW I installed myself.

I use it for games, music composition (Fruity Loops with a whole crapload of freeware VSTi plugins), Bible study (Greek and Hebrew texts), and checking out H*R.

My old system died about 3 weeks ago. It was a Dell XPS R350 with a 1ghz overdrive processor, 512mb RAM, the same SB Live! 5.1, the same CDRW, and the antiquated 2x DVD it came with.

I like the fighting Windows vs. Mac gif you got. Although ol' Bill runs both companies now. All Hail the Dark Lord Williamus Gatius!

There was a movie (maybe on the History Channel?) about the Dark Lord WIlliamus Gatius and Steve Jobs. At the end of the movie, it said that after SJ quit Apple, he came back and DLWG was his new boss! Now THAT would SUCK! The man not only steals your ideas, but he ends up running the company you helped to start! Of course, that was before that whole monopoly lawsuit against The Evil Empire.

I know a lot about Apple, and first, Steve Jobs was forced to quit, the he started his own company, "NeXT", which was purchased by Apple in 1997. Apple was in a slump around 1997, so SJ, being crafty, designed the iMac, (released in 1998) which raised Apple's profits considerably, and the Board put him as CEO.

SHUDDERING FACT: Al Gore is on Apple's Board of Directors.

Um, Steve Jobs didn't design the iMac. Steve Jobs is upper management, he doesn't design anything any more than Bill Gates writes Windows code. The iMac design, according to the WikiPedia, is attributed to Jonathan Ive.

SJ worked with Jonathan Ive, at Apple's Industrial Design Lab.

Well, I'm 13, and I know most things about my iBook G4 (laptop):
1 GHZ, about 56 GB of storage, a 1024 x 768 resolution LCD display, and an ATI OpenGL card (not sure the specifics of it)

I know a bit of PHP, Perl and Python, am fairly skilled in ActionScript (the script in Flash), and am quite fluent in HTML.

Oh, and for those old-school gamers-- Ever hear of a game called Wizardry? My dad is Andrew Greenberg, one of the two main developers of it, so I have a geek-rich upbringing.

So you're dad went to the younger Cornell? And he's a patent attorney with Carlton Fields, a law firm in Florida? And he was also involved with the production of the game Q-Bert? And he is the Vice-Chairman of the Intellectual Property Committee for the IEEE?

That's totally cool.

Please explain why, on a relatively sweet system like that, you're running an abomination of an OS like Win98..

No it didn't. If you have XP Home SP2, you still can't log on to a domain, you have to use workgroups. Still need Pro for that.

Well, the versions still exist, it's just that they have almost equal features now (and the boot screen says "Microsoft Windows XP"- No version tag.)

It's in Wikipedia under Andrew Greenberg.

And you've never Googled your dad? Give it a whirl, you might find something that would make for interesting dinner table conversation.
