You guys have surprisingly low standards. I can tell by how much you like the king of town and Pom Pom's bow staff skills that you apparently think are in for "teh win." Sight gags or identifying with jokes simply because they are up your alley because you are an interior decorator are not as cool in my opinion as inventiveness and witty social commentary. Maybe he didn't baste the trading card comments with enough of that. The email seemed also kind of short and unsatisfying. They are basically using two things that they see as ingredients in a surefire recipe which is Strong Bad being creative by anticipating the funny stereotypes in what the reader is asking, road trip is a bad example, being creative with a twist of making fun of stuff in society like sitcom theme songs and Homestar coming in to refresh the joke by repeating it in some way. This one didn't have sharp enough gags, or..an Aristotelian arc or something. It didn't pan out, seemed clipped, made too little sense, and ended too abruptly.

Uhh... get a clue, dude. When people can identify with jokes, it makes them funnier. If you can't identify with a joke, then chances are a lot higher you won't "get it." This is why what most people call "inside jokes" tend to be funnier than the more generic kind.

Remember, everyone's sense of humor is different. Don't tell us we have "low standards" just because we don't have the same sense of humor as you do. That's just arrogant tunnel vision and makes you sound very immature.

Now, as for my opinion of this email? The best one in a while. I'd give it 9/10. Which is good considering the last one, Road Trip, was absolutely horrendous. I daresay that one was worse than Tape-Leg.

My favorite moments from this would have to be (in order of appeal):
* Cheatball. ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE.
* Homestar's line "Well that's just sad." Cracks me up every time. It's actually not so much the line itself as the way he said it. Comic gold.
* The STING of Town. I usually don't go for gross-out things, but that picture was pretty funny.

Yeah, seriously doubledeucemint, it's Homestar Runner. Analyze it if you want, but it's SBEmail, not Shakespeare. You sound like one of those pretentious art/literary critics in that post, lighten up.

Pros:
-References to the old, one-or-two color baseball cards (I have many of them, and have chewed on a few pieces of its pink balsa wood in my time. Who can taste the difference?)
-More 20X6, including THE :cheat: BALL and a hilarious send up of the point system in Yu-Gi-Oh!
-More butt-patting, and more of the new, darker humor from TBC with the "known in 7 states" comment.
-Dinosaurs getting their benches pressed by :sb:.
-The C.H.E.A.T title screen. I own TWO copies of E.T for the 2600. Sad, I know.
Cons:
-A little short.
-Not enough about the Deathly Pallor Game
-Never been a fan of GPK, so the Whatist-Pile Tykes cards were only chuckle-worthy to me.
All in all
A Solid Email. Save this one for a lil' prosperity.

I don't know - obviously humour is pretty subjective - but I would say the quality is lower. It's happened before. Just before Montage came out there was a dip in quality, too; then it was rescued by A Girl Or Maybe A Wagon Filled Up With Pancakes.

Perhaps the problem was there was less of an element of surprise: if you're going to build up to an obvious joke there has to be some kind of irony about it and I think that was lacking perhaps in "Trading Cards." I wasn't surprised by any of the produce.

I mean it had it's moments - it just wasn't amazing. Which is fine, even if you gotta catch 'em all, you can't win 'em all!

Yeah, that's something I was curious about. I didn't get the "known in 7 states" joke. It went completely over my head, with a response something like "what the heck?". What was that supposed to mean, anyway?

It implies that he something about his self-butt-pats broke the law in 7 states so that now he's "known" to the police there. It's pretty disturbing actually.

Geez, I didn't know there was such vitriol for "Road Trip" in the world. I thought it was pretty good!XD

The third to fifth coincidence this week, relating things I've done to things THEY have done.

I don't know what that means either.

Great job, great job as usual. Reminds me of that H*R Trading Card Game I made. Cheatball was my favorite part.

7.6/10

It's strange. I got it the first time I saw it. I guess I just have a dirty mind.
As Inverse Tiger said,

Yes. It was probably a Lewd Conduct charge, which isn't too surprising for Coach Z. I'm sure he's got a few D&D (Drunk and Disorderly, not Dungeons and Dragons ;)) and a few restraining orders as well.

So yeah, more of a Criminal Record than even :sb:

=/ I honestly didn't find this one all that funny. It disappointed me. I tried watching it again, but can't find it funny. I'd only give it a 2/5.

Awesome... Awesome to the Max
I loved that part when Stinkoman didn't know how to play the game, reminds me of when I played Pokemon trading cards for the first time.
And I wouldn't mind getting some of those StrongSad cards, those thing look cool

The "Does anyone know how this game works?" bit reminds ME of how in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime they spend several minutes out of each duel reminding the viewers at home what the cards they're playing do.

"I play Remove Trap, which allows me to destroy one of your trap cards! Once your Gravity Bind, which prevents my monsters of level 4 or higher from attacking, is out of the way, I'll be able to attack with my Summoned Skull, who has 2500 attack points!" etc. etc.

Yeah, I used to play the game. How could you tell?

Uhm, so, did I win? Does anyone know how this game works? = New favorite line to me.

Great, great e-mail. Maybe not a classic, but great nonetheless.

I don't even want to begin thinking why I took this long!

Okay, I found this e-mail to be very solid. Coach Z's cards were funny, and I like Homestar's butt-pat dance and "Well that's just sad." Comment. The Cheat's anime trading card game was really funny too, since I don't have any idea how those crazy games work. I'd be questioning my own winnage. The Whatsit Pile Tikes weren't as good as the rest, but Strongbad's post it cards were hilarious, since Homestar seemed to have got many to stick onto him out of nowhere. Unless those were behind the black.

In short, 9/10

Were the flashing messages in the corners Mario Party references? Or am I complete tool?

A complete tool.

It's a Yu-gi-oh reference.

This email sucks. X-( "The Cheat's Japanese-y trading card activity" cheeses me off so bad, I have to listen to some serious screamo to get out all the cheesedoffness. Or just watch the bird, which was actually good.

trading cards makes tape-leg look like dragon IMHO, though the Coach Z jokes were almost funny, minus the gayness.
