Should The Brothers Chaps make a Homestar Runner movie? I think they should. It would be one of the best movies ever. But would it be released on homestarruner.com, go straight-to-DVD, or go to the theaters?

It would be cool but I don't think it will ever happen.

No, I don't think it's a good idea.

Reasons a H*R movie wouldn't work
1. an average 6-minute running time webtoon does not make a two-hour movie
2. movies are expected to end with more of a conclusion of things which would cause serious shark-jumping
3a. the website would be neglected for the period which the movie is in production (likely a year or more!)
OR
3b. The website would be updated, but the movie's release would keep getting pushed back so that they could update the site. (either way, fans would start complaining)
4. H*R is just as funny on the computer screen as he would be on the bigscreen.

not that I wouldn't watch a H*R movie if there was one, but I don't think its a good idea.

A feature-length film of Homestar, that is, two hours worth of it, might be great for a bit and then wear off after the first 20 minutes or so, as we're used to about five or six minute shorts.

I don't see why some people are so eager to see Homestar up on the silver screen or on the television. What I like most about Homestar Runner isn't the cartoons (funny as they are); it's that it's always been a no-strings-attached sort of thing, where all they give you is humor and a sort of escape from the real world.

Besides, if we were to get technical, if there were a movie in the making, executives in the indsutry would be likely to change things around to the point where it's not even Homestar-esque anymore. Not to mention how much movie prices have skyrocketed in the past decade. With the website, you have a choice of whether you want to give them money or not (the store).

That's a great idea. On paper. In reality, a H*R movie woudn't work.

If by movie, you mean twenty to thirty minute cartoon, then that would be pretty cool. So I voted yes.

perhaps multiple toons edited into one movie
like the missing lappy toons with some extra footage
that would work but considering the lappy thing is solved no

to make a movie, they would either need to stop updating the site, or get someone else to make it. either way, it would be crappy.

A missing lappy- type thing would work, but only on DVD, and maybe the site, and only around 30 minutes. Other than the obvious obstacles, I don't see why it wouldn't work, with the humongous H*R fanbase most everywhere. Hecks, I would buy it!

welp a movie wouldn't work

#1: TBC said they would never do it
#2: if they did decide to make it, whichever studio they would release it thru would make them change too much of the story and characters to their own liking so TBC would lose a lot of creative control
3: a movie is not as interactive as a flash file the way TBC likes H*R to be.
#4: H*R seems to me to be a spur of the moment whenever the muse hits em sort of thing, if they had a deadline to release a movie I dont think it would be anything really as good as they would make if there was no pressure or either if they had to make sponsors/studios happy

I think the closest we might see to that is a five-part toon, each part four minutes, one release each week.

It might be cool to do, like, a Mockumentary about Free Country. Maybe with Cherry Greg being the main character.

Or, even one of the characters doing a documentary for some kind of school.

I think that could be kinda cool.

Although, now that I've said it, they won't, and I think according to some law, can't.

I voted no, although I would like to see more and more people getting into the Homestar Runner stuff - and people with crappy/no computers can still watch a movie. However, stretching out little toons into big movies doesn't usually end that well - some things simply work better at certain lengths. Plus, there would be issues of what to put in the plot, and whether this would affect subsequent toons on the website. It might stop certain things from being put into the toons, because that question was already resolved in the movie - which would be a shame. Also, there would be the aforementioned time constraints, which would stop updates to the website. And the whole friendly thing of it being a small-group production would have to change if a film compant was brought in, which might take something away.

Yeah, basically, what everyone else said. Also, if it got bad reviews, that would be a downer. I want to live in my little fannish world with the stuff I like, damnit!

Nonono! No homestar movie. absolutely not. In order to make a decent full-length movie, there needs to be more plot than is possible to portray with the homestar runner characters. The plots on homestarrunner general last like 5 minutes, and thats the way it should be. Any longer and they would need to inject far too much sense.

I think 10 minutes is enough for a h*r toon, so I don't think there should be a movie.

I'd like to see a longer toon, but not anything over 20 or 30 minutes. Make a long story that involves all alternate universes and cartoons like Cheat Commandos and Sweet Cuppin' Cakes.

Or

:trogdor: vs. A team of :pom: :homsar: :poop: :senor: :ehsteve:

Because those are the characters that would make the crappiest cartoon put together.

Seriously, Pom Pom, Homsar, The Poopsmith, Senor Cardgage, and Eh! Steve? How about we try something that will be entertaining for more than five minutes? Or something that actually would make sense while we're at it?

Oh, and no H*R Movie. 'Twould be cool, but it probably wouldn't work.

No no no no no.

It would jump the shark. It would suck. It would literally ruin Homester if they made an hour and a half movie that doesn't make fun of the very fact throughout the whole thing.

If it was not very serious and just 30 minutes with a plot like that versus Trogdor thing, I'd buy it. But if it WAS serious like a lot of people seem to want, no all the way.

But
:trogdor: vs. Anything would be cool.

hells yes that movie would be the best thing ever even better than the limozeen satarday moring cartoon show.
the ingrates and homeschool winner trying to take over over free contry usa and everone teaming up to stop them or something would be awsome and it should be like 25 to 30 min long.

No. If it was about 30-60 minutes long then it might work. But a two-hour Homestar movie? Totally not going to work (besides, The Chapmen aren't going to do it anyway).
Just like someone else said, you can't stretch a 5-minute net cartoon into a full-blown big screen movie.

I think it would be cool, it's just that TBC probably don't have the funds to do it.

Homestar is made for short toons.

You people are idiots! A homestar runner movie would be the greatest thing EVER!!!! Why?

A.May cost some, but TBC would make HORDES of cash by it...
B. More Homestar = More entertainment!
and
C. It would rule!!!

They could go
:hr: vs. :sb:
or
:trogdor: vs. :homsar: (that would end quick!)
or
:trogdor: and :sb: meet
or
:hr: breaks up w/ :marzi: (not that I want it, but it would be neat!)
