Do you think the Brothers Chaps will stay true to their word and replace the paper in email 173?

As you may or may not know, the end of the email "montage" claims that the paper will be replaced by an inkjet printer in email #173. Having just reached 160, that email is just around the corner.

I say no. Remember the email '2 years'? None of the proposed changes to Strongbadia have come to pass and those changes were due to happen a while ago. There's no reason to believe that TBC will follow through and replace the Paper. They shouldn't, anyway...the Paper is a dearly beloved resident of Free Country, USA.

I dunno, it'd seem really weird to get rid of the Paper, especially since it's been around so long and is practically its own character by now (especially after "retirement"). My guess is, once #173 or whatever rolls around, SB will consider getting a new printer because everyone expects him to, then chicken out at the last minute and decide to just stick with the Paper instead. At least I hope it happens something like that. :D

It just wouldn't be the same without the "preeooowww". :(

Just around the corner? Sure, atleast 13 weeks away. :P

By "just around the corner", I meant "3-5 months." After 160 strong bad emails, 13 is not that many.

I don't think that :sb: will get rid of the paper. He has been with him through everything from the very beginning. He even helped in the rescue of Lappy! B-)

Watch it be the exact same paper, just printed with an inkjet printer and making the exact same noise.

That's what I was expecting it was going to be.... same paper, just with different type of paper.

Also, "2 years" was Strong Bad's prediction.

Yeah, it seemed to be more of a joke than fact. Just like all the other montage thingys at the end.

Well, it might have a new noise. After all, inkjets don't go "preeow." They go more "Shruuuuung."

But remember, this is the Homestar universe we're talking about, anything's possible.

The Paper to be replaced?! That kind of talk is blasphemy! :p Nah I'm joshing, but seriously. The Paper can't be given the boot, it just can't! I mean, it's the freakin' Paper - God of "wrapping-things-up" and "putting-an-end-to-the-unfunny-streaks". Come on!

I reckon that even if his printer was be replaced, we'd still have the same old awesome Green/White paper to contend with.

My guess is they picked 173 because they didn't expect to still be making emails at 173. In interviews, they seem to always be surprised that they're at whatever number they're at. In one, they mentioned being surprised that they actually made another email after #100. Most likely they'll just do an email 173 and not change anything about the paper or even mention it.

What would be funny, though, is if they just skipped #173 like they once skipped #22 for some reason, so they could say "Ha! No 173, no changing the paper!"

what would really be funny is if they never changed the paper, but instead sometime later on made an email titled "email #173" (even if it wasn't #173) and it happened then

I doubt they would replace the paper. It's as much a part of Strong Bad's emails as...well...Strong Bad...

...And maybe the phrase "Holy Crap!"

Hecks no. The Paper is the best bit of the emails. Nothing's better than the variety in its messages.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind too much.

Well, I think this is worth nothing: Since the Wagon Fulla Pancakes DID do some used car spots, as seen in Senorial Day, you never know.

Let's just say that SB will get that inkjet and The Paper would still be around, only it'll come out of the printer.

Or something.

I dunno, we'll just wait and see. All I'm wondering about is what the next computer is gonna be if the Lappy ever falls apart... I can't think of any other kind of ancient hardware...

I'm going to definitely say YES. I don't think they would bother saying that in the montage email if they weren't planning on it. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Strong Bad intentionally replaces it because he knows it's #173.

Exactly. Besides, replacing the Paper would do more harm than good. We'd all miss the beloved piece of loose-leaf, and not to mention, the change could potentially confuse newbies (OK, maybe not).

I would probably cry if The Paper left...I've been counting down to that fateful email myself, and I hardly realized how attached to The Paper I had become, especially after it saved the day in "retirement."

Tell you what I could see happening...TBC will make email 173, forget all about the supposed inkjet upgrade, and then visit the wiki, happen upon this thread and others like it, and be like, "ohhhh..."

Or maybe I just like to entertain the thought that TBC could be reading the exact words that I write.

I is very possible that they could forget. Remember 2 years? All of the things that was supposed to happen, but didn't?

What-evah. I'm long-lost siblings with every-freakin-body on this wiki!! At heart, anyways. ;-)
