Well I just saw the Spongebob episode where he's giving Squidward surgery, and his heart starts squirting out blood, so I don't think we should be freaking out over the fork in the eye.

And finally...
MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED!
RIPBERGER WAS IN A CARTOON!

(The episode was Dying For Pie, by the way)

By Homestar Runner standards, yes, it is.

Anyway, this was, in my opinion, a typical ho-hum cartoon holiday special. When they try to make it funny by making it the opposite of holiday conventions. I've unfortunately been subjected to a lot of these on Dexter's Laboratory and junk like that (for the record, I hate basically every cartoon except Homestar Runner) and it's disheartening. 4/10.

Eww. Eye blood. Ambrosia salad.

I'm generally not a fan of the Cheat Commandos, but that was pretty funny.
Plus it's quotable.

*expects to see 'you ACTUALLY HAVE A GUN!' and 'I'm, uh, thankful for this fork in my eye' popping up in conversation*

4/5, for a CC cartoon.

That's probably because of the emo music he was listening to.

But I don't think he was acting very emotional.

That was quite good. I'm probably going to have "No one understands me! No one understands me!" stuck in my head for weeks, but that was still good. It's nice to see that they're finally making fun of emo music.

Personally, I'm plenty thankful for the fork in my eye. It stops the evil hobo clowns from gouging it out.

I really liked this toon. Very funny, and had a lot of good quotes. It was a nic3 change from the reular sbemails and such. Defentiely my favorite Cheat Commandoes toon.

Mmmm... It was alright. I didn't really like it all that much. Well, it was OK, yeah, but it was kind of "blah." Although I did like Reynold's brother, as did a lot of people here, and his whine-tastic music, other than that, it didn't "wow" me.

*shakes fist*

Reynold's brother is hilariously emo?!
Ripberger has a voice?!
Gunhaver actually has a gun!?
This cartoon actually has bloood in it?!

Hilarious toon.

And to whoever mentioned that the emo music sounded like Larry, I'd have to agree. See, yesterday I heard my brother watching this wile I was taking a crap (I could it was this one because it didn't sound like anything I had heard before, but I could tell it was from H*R), and when it got to the part with Reynold's brother, I actually thought the toon featured Limozeen! Weirded.

This was a good one. Lil Steiny, the new characters/their action figures, and all the inside cross-references.

Stave It Off, I'm curious, what did you mean by "H*R is back?" Did you think that lately the toons have been crappy or less than up to par? For many of them, I would agree with you.

Yeah, for the most part. I enjoyed parts of the 4 Branches email, but it's been a while since we had a well thought-out toon or whatnot. It had kinda gotten boring.

I am a shrill for the Cheat Commandos, though... so maybe Gunhaver having a gun had something to do with it.

Man that 'toon was great; new Cheat commando characters, the fork in the eye, and that silent rip reference.

The jokes were pure 100% Homestar runner brand, the past toons and sbemails were a bit off the H*R style.

I loved the toon,
gobble gobble there's going to be trobble
hey that's not bad!
I laughed out loud when I heard that joke.

Well, my opinion of this cartoon is shadowed by the fact I'm a mom of a nine year old that *loves* the Homestarrunner site.

I didn't like the fork in the eye, not one bit. I felt very uncomfortable about her seeing it, and almost turned it off. (seeing as there was no warning, and it was too late, she already saw it, what was the use?)

I always could depend on the Homestar site to have cartoons that were pretty kid friendly (for sophisticed kids, that is ;) ) Sure, I know it's directed more at teens, and has words like sucks and crap, but that's nothing the kid doesn't hear at school (and *worse!)

This is the very first time I was ever disappointed in a Homestarrunner cartoon. Hope it won't be repeated, because I love the site.

As for the rest of the cartoon, sans the eye incident. It was okay. I thought the fall parade from last year was funnier (and the nine year old agreed on this)

I just noticed: on Halloween, I dressed up in the same fashion as Gunhaver, which makes me dressed up as Duke. Then when I watched the toon, Gunhaver is called "Charles," which is very interesting because my real name is Charles. Must be some sort of coincidence or something.

Me too. Coach Z just made that one terrific. "I REGRET EVERYTHING!" Poor guy. I normally love the Cheat Commandoes too...

I think you guys are really overeacting with the eye thing. I thought it was hilarious. It wasn't even that bad. It's not like it's realistic or anything. And for the 9 year old, well, it's not like Homestar Runner has a rating or anything. They can put what they want. This is the internet. And as the other guy said, blood is on a lot of cartoons on TV. Homestar Runner isn't actually geared towards children in the first place. It's more of a teen website.

Anyways, I love the cartoon. Always nice to see the Cheat Commandos.

I really didn't get what was so horrible about the fork in the eye. First run through, I didn't even notice it.

Eh. Maybe my brain's just warped...

The fork in the eye was pretty surprising at first, and the whole cartoon had more implied violence that usual overall. It's really not like most of the other stuff on the site. After thinking about it a bit I didn't care, but I can see how someone who got used to the site specifically because that kind of thing wasn't there would be offended.

Yeah, I agree completly. People got used to how family friendly it was and it was a shock when blood was shown. And a fork. In the eye.

Indeed. (Although I did notice that the guy with the vest has the same voice as Homestar 20X6) I mean, all these characters PLUS he can voice Strong Bad impersonating the KoT AND vice versa PLUS do the high vocals for Larry from Limozeen.... he's a master. It's no wonder there are so many spinoff series on the site; he never runs out of voices.

My favorite parts were the way the Green Helmets' high numbers makes them expendable, Blue Laser throwing the fork at the guy, and the generic whiney music.

But you know, I think I have to agree that actually showing the fork in the eye was a step too far. It was very funny when it was offscreen, but showing it kinda ruined the gag. It's funnier when something that happens offscreen stays offscreen, unless the results are really funny visually.

Not that I was personally offended, but... well, another one for the "wouldn't-show-my-parents" list.
