I remember that not too long ago I was getting sick of Homestarrunner because the SB email quality in general was getting to the point where I felt as if they weren't trying anymore. Well I've noticed a big change in the past month or so. The last few emails they've released have been awesome. Anyone else notice that decline and re-birth?

I think they kinda actually peaked a little. They hav'nt really been getting better. (Not saying they are bad whatsoever.) They should get back to those awesome emails that made Compy so great!

I have to say the lappy era is a lot better than Compy or Tandy. But they have been getting better after that short thanksgiving email slump (mainly because of the toons)

Yeah, I was gonna say something about this, I mean, from right about when ISP came along, they just seemed.....bad almost. But those last two have been pretty freaking good.

I know what you mean; they were getting boring. (Then again, there was a lot going on in the Brothers Chaps' lives at the time, so they probably didn't have as much time to think of funny stuff.) Then came theme song. Ever since, they've all been funny (aside from trading cards, which was really, really dumb and bad).

What I love is the Compy-era trademark humor. There's been a whole lot of that "latley," but thankfully, Strong Bad has been nicer to the beloved The Cheat in the newer emails, which is a definite bonus.

I think they peaked around montage. And alternate universe was great. Technology was not very good, however and neither was senior prom. Candy product was good. I don't know, I really started disliking them around redesign.

I'm officially tired of SBEmails. Do something else for a while, TBC, please!

I'm not tired of them, but the last big toon was released a couple of weeks before I started watching Homestar Runner, and the last short was released before that. So, I agree in part. I wonder when they're going to release that new point and click game?

Compy will always rule because of that great era of e-mails it was around for. It actually kind of lost me around candy product, the chapmen have actually been relying on inside jokes and random things for a while, I wish they would get back to reaching a wider audience.

I've always throught that they've been going uphill... The recent ones were the best. Maybe I just think that because I wasn't around when all the compy emails came out.

I'm not terribly picky. I think almost all of them are great. I mean I like some more than others and there are the select few I really don't care for...but over all I can't complain too much about the sbemails. It's amazing that TBC have been going at it for this long as it is.

wow. I just... well... lemme put it like this.

The emails in the beginning were just stupid. no denying that. Homsar, some kinda robot, the brothers just hadnt clicked yet. Then they got great, somewhere around email 82. No, great is an insult. Probaly the most funny and creative things ive ever seen. They brightened my mondays and gave me a chuckle for the rest of the week. They were classics. the 80s to the mid 100s. But then, that fatal moment. Isp was done, and there was not to be an eamil for several fortnights. It was that horrible... summer of '06. no emails. for so long. every monday i could barely bring myself to look, and my hope would turn false. but then, on the horizen, i saw it.. it.. was... the welcome back banner! But as i watch the toon, i think, wait, this isnt funny. well maybe their email next week will be halairious to make up for it. But no! flop after flop after flop! Redesign, keep cool, *shudder* Trading cards! But suddenly retirement comes out. I finaly think the chaps have clicked again! But once again my hopes were crushed and my fears brought into reality. with coloring, the chair and looking old i was afraid i lost Strong Bad forever. Unnatural was just disgraceful. But this morning... i didnt even check monday, i was afraid to. I click on strong bad email and see that come-to-have-dread "new" sign. i sigh and click on the movies. I watch it and let a giggle escape. I watch it once again and find myself cracking up on the floor. The Brother Chaps be praised, the have finally come back. Strong Bad is once more, Homstar is just as stupid, pom pom is just as cool, strong sad is even more so annoying and senor cardgage continues to be my favorite character. Praise Allah, God, Yahweh, Budduh, and Homsar! Amen .

yes, i quoted myself

I always have failed to see what made the Compy emails so much better than the Lappy emails. Posts like the above probably bother me more than anything else here. Really, they've always been great overall.

ok, yea, i overdid it a little. I never did dislike an email. Its just some were way better then others.

and i prefer lappy emails to compy ones just pre redisign lappy emails. like Portrait and stuff. THose are the best.

I don't really notice a pattern of up and down, but one of my brothers friends who has been a long time Homestar fan thinks that the toons and SBemails are just getting more random. I think they're awesome. The 12th TGS was just awesome, 4 Branches was awesome. The Chair and Looking Old were awesome.

And as Sci-Fi Greg said, the first few were just completely boring.

But Dragon will always be the best SBemail ever. Japanese Cartoon following in it's footsteps (Kinda ironic [I think that's the right word], because Japanese Cartoon came out the week before Dragon).

Of course they've been getting more random. The site's been around for what, almost a decade now (I know some of the things they've made are older)? The emails are going to get weirder because it's not enough for him to simply answer the emails like he used to. Toons are going to get weirder because, really, the site hardly had a "premise" to begin with, so they don't have much by way of character development to go on.

None of these are bad things, mind you, just idle observations about 'em.

The first few were only boring in retrospect. Anyone who watched the dang things in chronological order (even if you're a newer fan, you just started at the old) will probably tell you that the first time you go through they're all great. Considering at the time the SBEmail wasn't the main staple of the site and was just a side-feature, the old ones are fine, too.

Watch the Holiday Pageant one or Mother's Day, or the Luau. In retrospect, none of the old stuff is very good. At the time, though, I thought "A Jorb Well Done" was great. Now I never watch it when I'm perusin' through the site on a dull day.
