Gotta say I'm surprised people are so upset about the PCP reference! I found So-and-So getting ground up feet-first in the garbage disposal significantly more disturbing than the Bros referring to the existence of PCP. Or maybe it's just that after hearing the microwaved baby joke I went surfing on an urban legends site and ended up reading pages and pages of the more horrifying rumors out there... *eye twitches involuntarily*

TGS seems to be getting more and more bizarre. I'll have to watch this one a few more times to decide if I really liked it, but that's what I've had to do with many of the latest ones, and they've grown on me anyway.

I like controversy, and I think it's good to stir things up a little once and a while.

That being said, this isn't the first time hard drugs have been referenced, and I doubt it will be the last.

The wiki even has a page on them. Apparently illegal drugs have been mentioned three times so far.

Let me try to explain it better...

^^ The three predominant opinions in the forum right now.

^^ Disregard these. They are th obligatory opinions of those who make no sense.

I do wish the more adult references would stay out, but the good old-fashioned TGS humor was still here. And those of you who only like this one because it has the adult refs not present in most TGS (that means you mootbooxle), you do realize that TGS is made entirely to parodize YOUR generation, right? Just making sure you know.

What I mean is, most of Homestarrunner.com, when its humor is based on reality rather than randomness (say that five times fast), it's based on

(1)products, etc. of the eighties, or
(2)timeless annoyances like emailing at work or weird moviegoers.

TGS is different, because it makes fun of the generation that has a crush on every boy, idolizes cheerleaders, and uses 1337-speak. This is the generation that seems to find the PCP thing so funny.

I don't have a big problem with mentioning PCP (Coach Z did say "crack" before) but I didn't feel like it had any humor being there. "This is Diet Brown, not PCP" seemed like too obvious a line, except for the Diet Brown part. Anyway, it wasn't a big thing b/c then they got into the rapper. Still a little too modern a reference for me, but alas. Some people liked it.

I do think the PCP thing was not as bad as the "teen-pregnant" line from CC, which no one seemed to notice, even though they freaked out over a little blood in the Let us Give Tanks toon.

Okay, my over-analysis is done now. [/i]

Best TGS ever, and that's saying something. I started calling people at my school "biscuitheads", and it's become a craze, although nobody there knows what HR is.

Best parts:
"Please stop feeding me!"
Garbage disposal song
"Eau de Toilette!" (so dignified!)
"I'm a guest star on my own album, y'all biscuitheads."

I found that quite funny, mostly because quite a few people in my school are into the monstrosities of gangsta rap and hip-hop, and from where I stand, it does sound like Peacy P.
Also, someone in my school has started calling people 'my breadbin', instead of 'my bretheren', a bit like y'all biscuitheads.

Other highlights:
The virtual pet
Garbage disposal song (hey, I read Jhonen Vasquez stuff, okay?)
Snack mix.

Huh, I am surprised this gets any more attention than the last ones. TGS had became this long, long ago. Just different references and taste makes things seem different. This one for me for example, was less bizarre than a couple of the last ones. That's how it goes.

I never heard of PCP. And Whatsherface said it wasn't PCP, but So and So is insane. Which is normal. So, I don't get it.

The whole torturing virtual pet thing is freaky, but eh, it is pretty tame. The garbage disposal thing has a sort of wincing quality cause it is pretty horrible way to go, plus we can pretty easily image that with a normal human body. But come on, there were dancing plates, who cares then, it was a interesting contrast between the two.

So, the verdict, in this one So and So was pretty insane, and it touched topics you guys don't like. Weird.

Not weird that you guys are bothered by TGS. Cause, that's pretty natural, TGS is a weird idiotic product lead by Strong Bad's train of thought, which is shown as it goes. And Strong Bad's not exactly a good guy. I might even say, Strong Bad is a bad guy, bad guy, bad guy. Yeah, so no surprises there. But that this particular one made such a large degree of people take notice, that's a bit weird. At least in my opinion.

Hey, that was what I thought of it. Except for all the exclamation marks. I didn't think it was any better or worse than the others, and I don't think it requires a second viewing to like.

Yeah, this ish did seem a little "over-the-top" at times, but I liked it. My favorite bits were "the baby's studying for the SAT!", Peacey P (it's always fun to ridicule gansta rappers in my book, "y'all biscuitheads"), the reference to Clue(do), and of course, the Garbage Disposal song.

Man was this one great TGS, MY favorite part was "listen, I'll be at a place and be back at a time, My cell number is some numbers, the baby needs stuff, whats postin control, punch tomkins in the gut, good luck, SHE GONE!!" ethier that or " Uh this is Butt crack pulming" were the best parts. Or Peacey P at the end " I'm guest starin in my own albul y'all biscuitheads

5/5

All of it.
Pure gold. I loved the garbage disposer song, and the references to bad babysitters, and the general cliche of a character's sidekicks coming over during babysitting.

Big H*R fan who reads this forum from time to time for reactions to toons and I just had to register for this as I can't believe the way some are calling this toon over the top or having too many modern references.

It's about teen girls in 2007. That means rap, babysitting and, yes, references to the famous health class take drugs and you'll kill a baby scare tactic. It's not like they are talking about getting wasted on PCP, it's just a small, meaningless reference to something they'd actually learn in a health class, being teen girls.

Great episode. Although I still prefer older ones (#1 and #2 for it's terrible production, #6 for GAZELLE CARCASS!, and #9 for the Drivers Ed'd and Song).

Garbage disposal song is a classic, too.

Only on TGS...

"I have to run from the police! QUICK!!! OUT THE... GARBAGE DISPOSAL!!"

That song has been stuck in my head ALL FREAKIN WEEK, and I've also been calling people "y'all biscuitheads" now. So, yeah, I liked it. I'm clueless when it comes to drugs, so I didn't get the PCP reference.

Did you not notice the crossed out words above "Health Class" on the book? I don't think they really learned that in health class...

I don't think you realize what I said. The PCP story wasn't really from health class--it was an urban legend So and So thought was real--hence she took an urban legends book and tried to disguise it as a health book.

Oh I get it. So... I still don't see the controversy. :ehsteve:

It's not common to for TBC to put drug references in such a relatively "clean" cartoon; that's what the issue with the PCP is.

Yeah, and in that particular post, I wasn't talking about the controversy. I was commenting on the fact that he said "references to the famous health class lesson" when it was really a reference to an urban myth.

Why is everyone so disturbed? It's not like HR is aimed at toddlers.

As :sb: once asked "Do you people think I'm intended for children? Like, the littlest, tiniest babies?"

Get over it.

o_O I don't see how the PCP reference is any worse than the old "you must smoke crack!" email rap... in fact it reminds me of an old episode of Rocko's Modern Life (best cartoon ever... or at least one of them :D), the one where they were at the grocery store... when that guy was trying to buy Spunky and Rocko was trying to talk him out of it by naming all the "bad" chemicals that were supposedly in dog meat... and at one point he says something like "it's just full of all kinds of CFC's and PCP's..." and the guy interrupts him and says "but I like PCP's"

yeah, so what I'm trying to get at is, if a Nickelodeon cartoon from the 90's can make a blatant drug reference and not have the world explode afterwards, then H*R can too :P

back on topic, I liked this one :D it was... random, VERY random, but I expect randomness from TGS, so I'm not gonna complain. and you have no idea how hard I laughed at the whole Peacey-P thing ("I'm a guest star on my own album!") the faded out t-shirt in that scene was just the icing on the cake for me... I don't know why I found THAT so funny, I just did :P

also: "bayonet tailgate party". XD I don't know why I pick the most random, minor things to be amused at in H*R cartoons, really...

They taught it my health class, but the year I had that I went to a Catholic high school.

The whole Peacey-P thing at the end was randomly hilarious. You are not alone at all with finding that hilarious,

I wonder if the Bros Chaps write in the method of "South Park"'s "Family Guy" manatees. Ok we have 'Clue', 'Bebe's Kids', a Garbage Disposal, and Robot prospectors. Now write a TGS!

Anyway, this was the funniest thing since Gunhaver taught Reynolds about
Inapropriate Teen Peer choices. :)
