I'm not saying they're the best ever, but they deserve to share that company.

Goodell = the Gary Bettman of football

Actually, I see no difference here. The Pats had a record-shattering season. Why is it they will never even be in the discussion? It's the same situation. Unbelievably awesome but didn't win the big game.

Has anyone ever said the 1998 Vikings were one of the best ever? Whoever wins the Super Bowl is the best team that season. That's the very definition of a championship. How can the Patriots be the best team of all time if they weren't even the best team this season?

They're one of the best teams ever, regardless of tonight's loss. No team has ever won that many games in one season.
It's a record, and a good one to have.

One of, maybe. They're surely the greatest team to lose the Super Bowl. Then again, that can't be much consolation.

Eli Manning's incredible escape and throw to Tyree has to be put on this page.

I read the section on "Rules named after players." Apparently no Stickum is allowed, yet players still use it from time to time.

Yo, I was reading up on the ratings for the Super Bowl and check this out.

Wikipedia wrote:

That is serious statement. That's huge, especially in today's world of 1000+ cable and satellite channels.

I made a few quarters (my associates didn't want to use paper money) off of the game. It was something like 17-12 Giants for my bet. 75 cents well earned.

I'm too lazy to go back through these new pages and respond to everything I woiuld bother talking about, so maybe later.

That is saying something. M*A*S*H had 125 million viewers. That will never be broken.

Is it wrong that I wanted to call every radio station in Boston and request "Almost Doesn't Count"?

New York, New York would have been just as fitting.

Isn't "New York, New York" the official song of the Yankees?

Okay Ramrod. We're going on a mission.

Our objective? Eliminate Giselle Bunchen (or whatever) and Jessica Simpson so Brady and Romo won't be distracted anymore. Are you a bad enough dude to accept?

Not really...we've been better at baseball for a while now, so we've still got our pride there.

By the way, I highly disagree with the notion that Brady isn't a Bradshaw-caliber QB. I think Brady, Peyton, and Favre are all in the upper tier of all-time QBs. And I hate Manning. But I respect what he's done. Same with Favre, possibly moreso. I liked Favre more this year than I usually do. I think he was having fun. All three are legendary QBs, comparable to the old greats.

Don't stab me to death, guys, but I think Eli is better than Peyton. I mean, it took Peyton what, 8 years before he had his day? It took Eli 4 years. Peyton has ridiculously consistent receivers and a crazy good line. Eli, not so much. He does most of the work on successful pass plays. Not to mention Eli was a big-time underdog in his Super Bowl win. Peyton's team was favored by a lot. They both have 1 Super Bowl, Eli's was more impressive.

Say what you will. Eli is better than Peyton.

I disagree.

Peyton is far more consistent. We all saw Eli this regular season. He was interception king. As for Peyton's offense/recievers, I think Eli has more help. Plax and Toomer are good. But more importantly, Eli has a much better defense on his bench. So Peytom has to work more and score more points while Eli can sometimes rely on the D. Peyton's got records out the wazoo (well...the few that weren't broken by Brady). Eli hasn't done much of note other than the Bowl.

Not to say Peyton's infinitely better. He's just better right now. Give Eli some time. Peyton wasn't that great when he started, either.

Brady's better than them both, though. ;) Oh and Favre's up there somewhere.

In the grand scheme, Eli is at least just as good as Peyton, if not, he's tailgating him.

Let me see a season in which he doesn't lose a ton of turnovers and I'll agree.

Super Bowl wins do not immediately translate into greatness or vice-versa. Marino never got a ring. Brady got one his first year starting. Did that instantly put him ahead of Marino? Of course not.

Eli's good. But he needs a few more years (and more success) before he's considered to be truly great.

Yeah but you have to admit he picked the best time fora coming out party. Eli turned the corner in Week 17. He stepped up against the best team in the league and delivered a nearly flawless performance. If he hadn't thrown that pick on the last series, the Patriots may very well have gone 17-2.

I didn't mean that he wasn't a Bradshaw caliber quarterback. I was just saying that Bradshaw and Montana will be the only quarterbacks to say that they have been to multiple Super Bowls and have never lost.

Bart Starr and Troy Aikman would like to have a word with you.

Brady's still young...I can see him going to at least one more Super Bowl, especially if they retain that offense and build the defense.

They need an offensive line. They looked like a bunch of high schoolers against the Giants.

Their offensive line is full of Pro Bowlers. The Giants just ran over them because they were the best in the league.

Speaking of the Pro Bowl, how is it that the Giants win the Super Bowl and they have only one player going to Hawaii?

Chargers sent like 12 (or some ungodly number) people to the last one and didn't even make it to the AFC Championship.

Pro Bowl =/= success.

Also there is a curse on the MVP award, I think. The past few years whoever won the MVP has not won the Super Bowl.

I was thinking about that. It's like the Heisman curse has moved to the NFL.

They probably regret that now. On Sunday I saw a defensive line for the Giants that looked like they should've had 3 or 4 Pro Bowlers.
