New old-timey toon out!
http://www.homestarrunner.com/bigouting.html

I loved the scene change to Strong Bad putting Marzipan and Homestar into a saw. :-D And is that "Dee" the Old-Timey Ugly One?

Hmm...not bad for an old timey toon. When I first read old timey I instantly goned but this wasn't actually too bad! I quite liked it!

Strangely funny. Nope, sorry, that's all I can say about it. Although, Fort Wayne Locomotive finally made his audio debut...

Best Old Timey Cartoon, although that ain't saying much. Old Timey isn't suppose to be hilarious, they are simply a strange and sometimes depressing tribute to the classic cartoon. This Old Timey probably had some of the best animation homestar has featured. And hearing the Sneak speak was quite a surprise.

I gave it a 5 just for the quality.

It was funny for an Old-Timey cartoon.

4/5

i laughed pretty hard at old timey strong bads lines.

"the only date he will have is one with the glue factory" (evil tune) "to which i will sell him too!!" (evil toon, slightly quicker) "FOR MONEY!" (fast evil rune)

or like

"be quite you or i shall generously pump you fulla lead with high velocity outta my pis-toll-a!

That was a pretty solid toon; there were definitely some parts that made me laugh out loud. I'm glad to see something other than a Strongbad email on the website. 4/5.

It's kinda odd that this came out around the same time as our discussion on a new Old Timey toon, though. It is more than likely a coincidence, but you never know. :)

This was good, but the Old-Timey style isn't my favorite. But, it's the humor that counts; 5/5.

That plus Ft. Wayne locomotive and OT Bub's stand lighting on fire (causing me to audiably laugh, rather then my regular smile and a loud exhale) gives this one a 5.

That may have been one of the funniest toons I've seen on the site.

I literally laughed out loud when Old-Timey Bubs' bouquet stand lit on fire, and when Sickly Sam ended up with that cow.

5/5

I didn't think it was very good...
the only funny part was the intro. The rest was just plain lame and disappointing.

The lack of Old-Timey love on this forum is somewhat disheartening. :-|

Nevertheless this was a pretty hilarious toon.

Haha. Strange, but funny. I liked the old-timey Coach Z, and I didn't realize he had already appeared in another old toon.

Same here.

I'm not a big Old-Timey fan either (sorry Joshua), but this one was pretty decent. Sickly Sam eating Old-Timey Strong Bad was just weird, and The Sneak speaking really caught me off guard.

My favorite part was The Homestar Runner kicking The Sneak.

Wow, I actually get a chance to transcribe this thing... (!) Well, I transcribed a little bit, but now I have to go take a shower and stuff. I'll probably miss the rest.

I love the way everyone talks in Old-Timey. "I do believe you've spic'd my span!"

This toon kind of confuses me though...is it supposed to be a cartoon or live action? Because I don't think a cartoon would have the bat be on strings or the shark fins be on sticks. Ohwell.

It was good, and nice to see some not too recently updated stuff updated. Almost 3 years is too long, I think they waited a long time to do it because 1936 is none too popular. Nice to see the Bros indulge their pet projects from time to time, especially when it's actually funny! so A/A- Now...Marzipan's Answering Machine anyone?

Heh. That was pretty good. A bit random, but good nonetheless. I liked all the animals near the end there that were so obviously fake. :-D

My favorite part was definitely the random little scene with Strong bad putting The Homestar Runner and Marzipan through the buzz saw...

I had the chance as well, but I didn't feel up to the task. I was already tired and wanted to go to bed. :(

I guess "cheatday" will remain the only toon/email that I've transcribed. And I don't mind that, but I also wouldn't mind doing another one someday.

I don't think there's any great distinction between "cartoon" and "live action" in the H*R universe (puppet stuff and live-action Limozeen notwithstanding).

"Let's get you dressed to the five-and-three-quarters-es!"

I haven't even been able to finish watching the cartoon, I'm laughing at that so hard.

I agree, this was good for an old-timey cartoon. For an OLD TIMEY CARTOON!!! The fake sharks and birds seemed sort of Potter Puppet Pals-esque. I also liked the random scene!

This toon was okay. Maybe I'm just not a huge fan of the old-timey style. Did it strike anyone else as odd that The Strong Bad seemed to be acting a lot more like his modern-day counterpart in this one than he has in previous appearances?

I think the real problem with the 1936 cartoons is not that it's old-timey or in black-and-white, but rather that they often don't emulate the good things from real 1930s cartoons very well. Real 30s toons were very animated with a lot of stuff going on. The logic at the time was, "Hey, this newfangled animation stuff is great! We should do as much with it as possible!" And so they did. The music was usually very elaborate, too. Homestar's 1936 animation and music, by contrast, were very sparse. It doesn't feel at all like watching an old Disney, Popeye, or Looney Tunes cartoon, or a parody of one, either.

I think most of the jokes about bad animation/acting would be done better with a parody of old-school Hanna-Barbera animation, especially from the 1960s-1970s era. You know: Snagglepuss, Huckleberry Hound, Top Cat... those toons had their good qualities, but cheap acting, cheap music, and most of all cheap animation were always painfully evident. The same even applied to their more well-known classics (Flintstones, Jetsons, Yogi Bear, Scooby-Doo), though not quite as much.

I believe I actually lol'd at the scene where Strong Bad had Marzipan and The Homestar Runner on the conveyor belt, heading towards the saw.
