This toon kind of confuses me though...is it supposed to be a cartoon or live action? Because I don't think a cartoon would have the bat be on strings or the shark fins be on sticks. Ohwell.

Rewatching it, I noticed that too.
I'd say live action, remember that cut when there was a knock at the door? That wouldn't happen in a cartoon, unless intensional (which, technically it was..)

Meh. It was ok...I lol'd at "now with A color!" But I'm disappointed they didn't do another e-mail. They seem to be slower and slower between every 50 e-mails.

I hope I'm not hearing this in the wrong way or something, but... ...ew. Just...ew, man.

Sickly Sam just felt awful creepy in this one. More so than usual.

BUT, the best part by far was the ridiculously long Strong Bad monologue as he was being ingested alive by Sam. ;)

:sb: "Curses! I can't believe I'm being eaten! ... ... I can't believe I'm still being eaten! This is taking far longer than I'd thought!"

Eh lo el. :)

I thought it was really funny. I laughed out loud when the film caught on fire. Also, I kept pausing after Strong Bad spoke so that I could laugh properly, then unpausing to find that he wasn't finished.

For some reason I think Old Timey Marzipan is the funniest thing ever.

Now that was just sheer feckin' BRILLIANCE right there.

I loved it.

I couldn't pick just one joke as my favorite. But it was cool to finally see the Fort Wayne Locomotive in action.

Meh...I kinda detest Old timey cartoons. I dunno why. Anyways, this was ok. Stickly Sam eating the Strong Bad was probably the best part, that and when the scene was missing and Marzipan and Homestar was going to be sawed. 3/5

Agreed. I'm surprised so many people dislike it, some of my favorite things on the site are Old-Timey. I just find them really amusing for some reason

Pretty good toon.

Very entertaining indeed. Especially The Homestar Runner twisting his legs and rising up; that coulda been something Homsar would do if you ask me.

Also, Fort Wayne Locomotive sounded like Dennis from "The Animated Adventures of Thy Dungeonman" (from web comics). Well, Matt's done so many voices so far, I suppose some of them are bound to be similar, like 1-Up and Silent Rip for instance.

I hope I'm not hearing this the wrong way (although I kind of do, coz it would be a brilliant line, and it honestly sounds that way), but I hear it as "Am I going to make her a man?"

I just listened to it with headphones, and although it's a bit ambiguous, there's a definite s sound at the end.

I am a big fan of movies and cartoons from the 1920's and 30's, but The Homestar Runner and friends never seem to pull it off quite right.

I thought Sickly Sam eating Sir Strong Bad was weird and out of place...and Pom-Pom was nowhere to be found...again.

I was happy to see Coach Z's old-timey counterpart finally get a speaking role though...and the voice fits him well. (is he supposed to sound like Art Carney?)

Why has no one else mentioned The Robot, Senor Havin' a Little Trouble, and Mr. Bland's old-timey counterparts showing up there in the beginning?

Could this possibly qualify as a holiday toon? It is romantically themed and posted the week of Vamlumtimes Day?

In my humble estimation, this is quite possibly the best Old-Timey toon to date. The only other real contender is the Ballad of the Sneak.

What made it so great?
  • cheesy old-timey lines like "I do believe you've spicked my span" and "Let's turn those skeleton knees into bees' knees!"
  • the Fort Wayne Locomotive's voice
  • Strong Bad's long-winded, occasionally sting-punctuated monologues ("...for money!")
  • Sickly Sam eats Strong Bad
  • among other things!

For such reasons as these, I gave it a four!

Cool! It was a pleasant surprise to see another old-timey toon. I really liked Marzipan's random lines, Fort Wayne Locomotive, and Strong Bad getting eaten. :marzi:

You mean that was them? I wasn't paying attention.

Is it just me or was Fort Wayne Locomotive's advice a reference to Coach Z's "Girls are like a great sports play" line? :coachz: Anyway, this was very well done.

:coachz: :coachz: :coachz: :coachz: out of 5 for the "Sheboygan Booteaters" reference alone. On Wisconsin!

And I hope I never hear :coachz: try to say the word "Wisconsin." Mangle-riffic, that'd be.

That's the best Old-Timey toon EVA. ;P
I loved Strong Bad's lines and the cut to The Homestar's and Marzipan's doom scene.
Although its lack of easter eggs was quite disapointing.

Holy crap! That was amazing... "now in a color"

Marzipan doesnt seem very smart: "This must be skid row. This must be skid row."

Yay for the Fort Wayne Locamotive! :coachz: "Old timey me has done jorstice to my charocter"

If you ask me, the 'normal' Marizpan isn't very smart either. She's just dumb in a smart way. ;)

Oh, man. That was hilarious! The Brothers Chaps just go crazy with no-sense-making on these Old Timey Toons! I also liked the Fort Wayne Locomotive.
...I just kind of wish they'd make a full-length 20X6 one sometime.

Did anyone else notice the computerized beeping noise as Fort Wayne Locomotive was running away? Did anyone else think it sounded amazingly like the "low health" sound in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time?

I laughed.

To me, the random clip of The Homestar Runner tied up and heading towards a saw was what really pulled this cartoon together. That, and the use of a color. 4/5.

Meh.

I liked it when Strong Bad was getting eaten by sickly sam. And when Homestar swiveled/swirled upwards. ... that's about it.

Oh yeah. A color. Heh, funny.

Otherwise, pretty decent. Ms. Dee at the end was a nice touch.
