So the end is coming eventually.
The Mayans said 2012.
Nostradamus said 3024.
Christianity is being vague and telling us that it will happen very soon.
Scientists say we have several billion years until the earth is destroyed, but the human race will die out sooner.
What's your take on all this?

The world's going to end next month when they fire up the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and the planet gets sucked into a mini black hole.

Eh, I can't imagine the world exploding for no particular reason, so I'm going to go with science and say we'll all be dead from global warming in 200 years.

But scientists say the world will end in billions of years, not 200.

All of it is crap.
Except the billions of years left.

The world won't even end then I bet.

Actually, the sun will swell up so much that Earth will literally be engulfed by the star's outer layers, which will vaporize it. Of course, it will be rendered uninhabitable millions of years before by the sun's approach and the increase in heat. I think I remember reading somewhere that you MIGHT be able to survive if you lived on like a moon of Saturn or Jupiter or something when that time comes, but by then if there's still a humanity, we'll probably just move the whole planet to a new star.

Of course, since the world is going to end next month, it doesn't really matter.

The world will end on June 6th, 2006. I know this because I got an email from my cousin about it. Also there's this weird website called Eon8 with links to THE GOVERNMENT on it, and it has a counter that's counting down to midnight of that day, and I can't imagine what something so mysterious and government-related could be counting down to other than the end of the world. Also, 666 is the number of EEEEEEEEEEEEVIL, so anything that has three sixes in a row must be bad, right?

Yup! Just like it'll end in 1906, 1806, and so on. That 6/6/06 is bad news.

The world will not not end by suns engulfing our planet or anything of that sort. The Lizards that have ruled over mankind for millenniums will show their true colors and try to destroy us all. But fear not, because with a payment of $59.99 or your firstborn son, you can be saved.

Your logic is iffy. Sure, the boy who cried wolf was lying the first three times, but the last time, he was telling the truth.

Very nice spam. High quality.

Here are my beliefs re: the end of the world:

1. No one knows the exact time.

BUT

2. There are signs that we can watch for that will let us know when it's coming.

I will go with science as well, but I don't agree that it will be caused be global warming. And 200 years? Try 2 billion.

If we learn to control ourselves and not use everything up, we may last until the sun explodes.

Then again, the way things are going, I'm not so sure.

Can you say "hoax"?
Following 9/11, a hoax was handed about that Nostradamus had said:
On the 11th day of the 9 month,
two metal birds will crash into two tall statues
in the new city,
and the world will end soon after.

It is implied that this quote was to coincide with 2012, the last day on the Mayan calendar.
It's a theory that would make perfect sense... if Nostradamus had actually made that prophecy.

No way are we gonna make it until the sun explodes. If we do, it'll be in a way that we will almost definitely won't be able to recognize as human.

But because we're all going to die in May, it doesn't matter, does it? :p

I'm only saying that if technology gets to a point where we can take care of all those problems, etc.

Can you blame humans for global warming?

No. It's all natural, and that's why it would take so long to destroy the whole planet.

Hmm, I guess that huge increase in CO2 starting during the Industrial Revolution is just my imagination then.

Carry on.

Notice the increase begins 25,000 years before the present.

I wouldn't call "Right next to Zero" 25,000 years ago.

You're either a complete moron or in denial if you think we're not contributing CO2 to the atmosphere.

The question is, does that mean we're causing the climate to change?

I'm not entirely sure about that, but when you look at how we're wasting the resources given to us, I don't see why we shouldn't switch to healthier alternatives - oh, yeah. Oil companies, etc. won't want that, since they'll lose their precious dollars.

sigh
