So this is clogging up other threads (mostly RT&I) and I think it's a big enough thing to warrant its own thread. This is a thread where you can post videos, talk about frusturating missions, tell everybody who you hate, what gang you think is the best, what car you like to drive, and get a little help if you're stuck. Just post spoilers in a quote with white font if you're gonna.

I'll start off the discussion by posting this kickawesome teaser just released for GTA IV, entitled "Niko Bellic", who is the main character of GTA IV. Here it is.

More videos are under other character's names. Wikipedia has a page called "Marketing for Grand Theft Auto IV" or something similar that lists them all.

edit: Games and videos related to games will more than likely have excessive amounts of violence and BAD WORDZ, just so you know.

What I really want to try out is the new proccess for hijacking cars, they said that you can't just walk up and enter one, that you have to break the lock or something and hotwire it.

Plus, with all the things I've been hearing, it sounds like this game will be as realistic as possible.

According to a guy that has it, you can mash L2 and R2 sort of like working out in SA to make hotwiring go by quicker.

Awesome. What about doing stuff like changing your appearance? Will it have as many features like GTA:SA, you know, planes that actually fly, customizable character down to the last tattoo and junk?

One thing that annoys me about games where you can customize stuff:

I have a choice, pimp out my character, or spend it on something useful. If I choose the former I always regret it later.

No planes in this one. I don't think you can tattoo or change his hair or work out or anything like that, but the outfit is definately customizable to some degree.

Nothing is very useful in those games. In the game where you could pimp out your character, money doesn't get to be a problem in the later stages. After LV you're pretty much in the clear and can go buy anything you want. Even in SF you'll have cash to buy a few outfits.

Yeah, there's no planes. But there are helicopters.

So far it has a perfect score, too. Looks like it's gonna be very high on the "best game ever" lists.

edit: A preview that details some interesting sounding misisons. I like the idea of "Undertaker" the best.

Sounds like a pretty lame game.

No decapitation? That is a must have!

the other stuff is meh. I sucked at flying, bikes were annoying (I can't stand the first mission of SA), and car customization was a waste of money. I just grabbed a car and when that one blew up I'd go jack another. I don't care much for custom soundtracks, multiplayer doesn't matter to me, jetpack was just a weird bonus, and I only used CJ's customization when I got into a new city.

So far the IGN review is making it up to be the greatest game of all-time. The city feels like a living, breathing city, songs have been re-recorded to give references to Liberty City, and the story is "Oscar-worthy".

Some of the friend bonuses in the game: free taxi rides, free helicopter service, free car bombs, back-up in missions, and the arms dealer comes to you. Sweet.

No parachutes? Aww. Well, as long as you still don't die when you land in water, no big deal I guess. But still...

I think the awesome redefined combat will make up for parachutes and planes.

I finished the review and I am more pumped than ever. This is the first console game 10 they gave out in 9 years.

But still! Parachutes were cool.

Maybe they'll be able to mod them in for the PC release, which is the only version of this game I'll be able to get in the foreseeable future, since I don't have $400 to burn on a console, and I blatantly refuse to get a 360.

They actually might end up being some PS3 DLC. 360 is getting missions (some idiots think they're getting whole new cities - how do you sum up a new city in time?) and PS3 is gonna get other stuff, I think.

Hmm...I may have to tell my step dad about this game since he's into lengthly games like this. However, I may have to wait for a few more reviews to flow in first.

If the IGN review is the only one you saw, search around some more, because there a few more out there that all have perfect 10s.

Characters I predict that get killed:
Quote:
Elizabeta
Vlad
Phil Bell
Francis McReary
Mikhail Faustin
Bledar
Dimitri
Kostya

People also think that Roman will die, but I really doubt that, considering that he has a friend bonus.

Euphoria and RAGE are both in the game.

Oh. IGN just said "Exclusive Online Review", so I assumed that they were the only sources with a review at the moment.

Sticking with my 360. I might buy GTA when I can afford it.

It's times like this when I wish I had a 360.

Oh well, one of my friends will probably end up getting it, I can just bum it off of him.

Rockstar has been hinting at it, and the new downloadable content is going to be episodic, lasting a minimum of ten hours, so why wouldn't there be enough time to sum up a new city?

They said that you get "roughly 10 hours" of playing time with the new DLC. What do they do with the city, take it away after ten hours? I doubt Rockstar would even give one console a whole city. And Rockstar hints at a lot of things. When asked about Bigfoot, they mentioned that there was something else in the woods, a big secret. aaaaand there's nothing in the woods except for glitched trees and a cabin with blood in it.

After reading the article it just looks like a ploy to sell more 360's and games, just like trashing the PS3 for needing 5 minutes of install to make it run smoother and listing things you could do instead of waiting 5 minutes to install (which is bullcrap because you need to do the tutorial mission first)

Or I could use the lame "exclusivitisosity doun't mean 4ever" argument but I don't really care either way. The game looks amazing enough without the DLC.

Also, you can call 911 on your cell phone. Should be fun.

edit: We find out what is censor'd in Australia's version.
