Let's get a broader explanation of some of the evidence:

The photo shows the defendant holding a knife to the victim's throat.
(Note that the picture is in the perspective: Defendant on the left, victim on the right, and the defendant has the knife in the hand closest to the screen.)

The Blueprints shows the details. Note that there is only one exit.
