Nope. The toons are still as fresh and funny as ever.

I've noticed a change in their humor. Seems like the freshest e-mails were the first two-thirds of the Compy era (41-100). That was the prime of their time.

How does this describe Looney Tunes?

I thought the freshest were like 60 to 120
Different opions I guess.

Yeah, I'll agree with your assessment there. 60-100, definitely, we both agree on that. Then there's some wiggle room before and after that.

I think you may be right....but not at the crap stage YET.

It has gone downhill, but only like, ColaCan:Railway in ratio. (nothing personal COLA)

I think the new toons are like the old toons, but longer. They're definitely not worse.

I don't think H*R.com relies that much on random humor. Once in a while there'll be something like drive-thru, but that's about it. Besides, Looney Tunes relied more on physical humor.

I think I agree. Sbemail 75 was one of my favorites.

Yeah, I've laughed just as hard at recent episodes as at past ones. Nothing beats classics like "dragon" though. I haven't noticed the "random crap" phenomenon- maybe you're missing references?

If Homestar did become like Looney Tunes, how would that make it crap?

I think it seemed to be more random during the early toons myself.

Yeah it's true SBemails have evolved from a guy with boxing gloves mourning the death of a vampire to much more traditional episodic cartoons. But I still think the quality is tremendous and that it is still fresh and funny (seriously the Cheat made all cute was hilarious)!

He'd still probably do that if he had the opportunity, it just wouldn't be the entire toon.

The humor has changed a bit, for better and for worse, but I don't think they've hit a low point. Actually right now I think the site is the best it's been in a while; not the best of all time, but it's definitely a local maximum. [/math nerd for describing it that way]

The humor's changed, but I don't think it's became "random crap" or really worse. Most of my favorite e-mails are older ones, but I still think it's just as funny. For a while, though, from around the paper to original, I thought all the new stuff was horrible, but that's passed. Just my opinion, though.

seriously?

Honestly, apart from a couple of the classics (Dragon, Japanese Cartoons, et al.), I think 40-120 , was kind of a boring trod.

I think TBC have hit their stride right now. Two hilarious shorts in a row, several original emails (including original), and while it's been a while since the last Big Toon, I don't think we need to worry about the Chaps getting stale.

Heck, IMHO, the last Halloween toon was the best yet.

I think Homestar runner.com is better than ever. Toons are getting longer and longer, and are of increasingly higher quality.

Personally... I feel it's not as good as it used to. Every now and then there's a pretty good toon but I haven't thoroughly enjoyed them like I did in the 2003-2006 period of time. Maybe it's me, maybe it's them. Either way it kinda sucks. The best point was around the release of Peasant's Quest... they really need something new... a change or something. I dunno.

For awhile there things changed a lot, Compy... new series (cheat commandos, teen girl squad, increasingly cool games like pq and stinkoman)... but now it's just a bunch of sbemails and the whole sbemail thing for me, at least, has become somewhat stale compared to a few years back.

The lack of any interesting CHARACTER development has been part of it. I haven't really learned anything new about anyone that has been all that interesting or funny lately. Not that these characters develop much, but they do at least a little.

But really, a new series or something would be cool to freshen things up. Maybe a new way to animate them. I guess the new game on wii is part of something "new," but it's technically not on the site or anything. And it is them kind of selling out, but I guess you would too if you realized that your only source of income was on the decline of it's internet popularity that it once had (which it was bigger a few years back).

Either way. I wish they'd just come up with something new. Limozeen, TGS, Answering Machines, etc. etc. are getting kind of old. I don't know what they could do.... they STILL... STILL ... haven't made a Stinkoman cartoon really OR finished Level 10. Either of those would be nice since that's one of my favorite things on the site.

Level 10 is about 3 years too late now. I think they've just plain lost interest in it. Kind of stupid to me, cause I wanted to finish Stinkoman. And I can't.

It's not that I don't still like Homestarrunner.com, it's just... I don't get excited anymore like I used to when I come see it. Maybe it is just me, in which case, it still sucks for me at least.... that I've grown out of it or lost interest in it or something. It's just not as funny to me anymore (although a recent toon did make me chuckle)...

Oh well.

I think they're straining their creativity to make SBCG4AP. Which is both a legitimate excuse and a reason why it's lame that they're making it in the first place. Who knows. Once it's done hopefully they'll improve with full attention on the site (and lots of money too.)

All in all, though, I don't think it's really in much of a slump. Just a slight temporary (hopefully) decline in quality. Not a big one.

They're only able to do so much lately due to SBCG4AP.

Strong Bad is in need of a new computer. He hasn't gotten one since sbemail 119. That's 77 emails since his last one. The Compy lasted 77 emails. The Tandy only lasted 40. Maybe Strong Bad could get a new one at his 200th.

I'd really like to see 1936 expand into full color, as a tribute to the later cartoons before color films.

I'd also like to see high school and middle school expanded upon. High school has potential for parody of Scooby Doo parodies and middle school has potential for Muppet Babies and Flintstone Kids parodies.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. But anyway, I have to say that I think the sight's still great. Teen Girl Squad has definitely improved, and quite frankly, I'm surprised that SBemail got past the Tandy. There were some good ones, but the Lappy ones are my favourites. Maninly because the Laooy seems more like an actual character.

I think it's doing great. Randomness can be funny if it's not one non-sequitur after another after another after another, being the only they rely on. Which it's not. So it's fine.

I love the characters and how they're being used too. Anyway, how many topics have there been about this very thing now? :P
