As a test for synesthesia, a disorder where objects, shapes, numbers, and letters, are recognized by more abstract things, such as personalities and colors, patients will often be asked which of these is Kiki and which is Booba:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/e ... a-Kiki.svg
I say the one on the left is Kiki and the one on the right is Booba, because Kiki sounds more orderly and in shape than Booba, and the pointy object is more in shape and orderly.
What do you say?

Same.

Kiki = all straight lines.

Booba = round letters, round lines.

The object with the straight lines is KiKi, and the object with round lines is Booba.

They're both blobs....

But yeah, the pointy one is Kiki, because Kiki is a more harsh-sounding name, and that's a harsh-looking shape.

Kiki is a sharp, "rigid" name ('cause of the k's) so he's the pointy one.

The one person who voted for the other one is a social outcast.

Here's something interesting about this test.
90 to 95 percent of most people tested said Kiki was the pointed one.
People with autism were asked, and a majority of those people asked said Booba was the pointed one.

First one. Unvoiced sounds like k, p, and t sound more abrupt and harsh, while voiced ones like b, d, and g sound smooth and flow with the rest of the word.

^This is pretty much why. A lot of words were made for reasons like that (the sounds they imply, the facial expressions they invoke).

I'd like to hear from that 1 person who voted for the second option.

What's your reasoning, that person?

Synesthesia: "The pointy one is Kiki, the round one is Booba."
Asynesthesia: "The pointy one is Booba, the round one is Kiki." (Also that's probably not a real word.)
Stupidity: "Haha, 'Booba' sounds like 'boobs.'"

Nah, real synesthesia is much more complicated than all this. Kiki = pointy for almost everyone because of the shape of the letters and popular associations of the sounds in the word. Actual synesthetes would be able to say that Kiki is purple or Beethoven's 9th tastes like burning or something.

There's actually a real synesthesia thread somewhere in here...

Well, it's said the same correlation happens even on people too young to read or who know different alphabets.

It's in OT. Might have been purged.

I took a synesthesia quiz once. Let me find it.

57%.

I'm a musician, though, so apparently I'm supposed to be more likely to be a synaesthete.

Odd.

I got 57 too, but I feel like I should have got lower. I just never associate senses with other senses.

Especially the numbers with colours part, numbers are just numbers.

I got a 57 prolly 'cause I didn't associate colors with numbers.

I DO have some kinds of synaesthesia, but color/number just isn't one of them. I associate personalities with numbers and letters, though.
