Secretly, Tom is on periodically, but hidden. He only ever posts on the admin panel. This is knowable from that short time when the regular mods were accidentally granted admin status for twenty minutes a couple of months ago. So he's on, just not here.

This place wasn't meant to be the kind of forum it's become, and as long as there's this tension between who we are now and old admins trying to make sure we don't screw with what remains of what this place was supposed to be, these little flareups will keep happening. Lower boards need to be split off into a completely separate forum with completely separate adminship.

Six months ago is roughly when that happened, and it only happened once, so I wouldn't know

Or these admins could entrust other admins that keep up with the place more and these ones stick around for emergency/site running stuff (upgrading and such)

I'm willing to try again.

I'll make a new phpBB3 forum. Most current mods will become mods, ramrod and StrongRad will have full adminship if they want it, even more than they have now. I'll set it up to look as close to the lower boards as possible to feel like home, with close but slightly different rules, then over time we can change it to be whatever the heck actually fits us all without having to worry.

My God, it'll be beautiful.

Based on this idea, we could create a second Admin title, call it "Maintenance" and have them access only the parts in the ACP that doesn't involve banning/making new forums. Leave the rest of that stuff up to the rest of them.

Splitting the forum failed because we didn't delete the lower boards here. Perhaps that was the key mistake.
