Pretty self-explanatory.

I'd say about 60 joules.

EDIT:
Poll added.

Hmm... let's see...

Given The Cheat's size (waist-high on most other characters), and some quick searches on Google for the weights of, say, cats and/or dogs of various sizes, I'd say our subject masses about 10-20kg or so, give or take. Let's say 15kg, for the purposes of the calculations.

The canonical example of cheat-kicking is in little animal... The Cheat is launched about a metre into the air, with a launch angle of around 45 degrees. v² - u² = 2as, v = 0, a = -9.8, s = 1, gives us the vertical component of our launch velocity as 4.42m/s. At 45 degrees, so the horizontal component is the same, giving us an overall velocity of 6.26m/s.

E = ½mv², so The Cheat's kinetic energy at launch is just shy of 300J.

As for the force, that's much harder to measure. The impulse, with the same numbers, is p=mv, which is just short of 100Ns, but we can't calculate the force without knowing how long Strong Bad's foot was in contact with The Cheat... (twice the force for half as long would give about the same results), and that's impossible to measure with any accuracy, given the 12fps framerate of the toons. However, since the poll answers are measured in "Joules" rather than "Newtons", I think the energy value is what we're after, anyways.

So, yeah. >150J. By a lot.

Force is measured in Newtons. Or meticlorians.

Was measured in Newtons. Didn't you get the memo?

Anydangways, I'd say it depends on the kick. It's always 150 or over, though.

No. You're dumb. It's measured in Newtons still.

Yes, joules are the measurement for work, a quantity dependent on force.

As such, I refuse to vote.

Aaaack! The Math! It's distorting my brain to Homsar proportions!

I'll say 600 joules. Why? Because it's a poll, and I can vote on it. :p

I'm gonna have to go with 20 degrees.

According to Where is the cheat?, The Cheat weights 18 lbs, that means a little more than 8 kg.

edit: How much force did the Poopsmith have to use to perform his whatsitburried flop?

Hmm, I forgot about that tidbit. That's less than I was thinking, but certainly reasonable. But then again, the same flyer also says he's 1ft 2in tall, and he's pretty clearly taller than that (as I said before, he's waist-high on most characters, I'd put him as closer to 3ft tall).

That's a tricky one, since the toon is rather inconsistent with The Cheat's trajectory... in one shot we have The Cheat being thrown up in the air at around 30-45 degrees. Next we have him reaching his apex, a couple of metres from the ground, just above Coach Z, at around the 60ft mark (indicating a final range of around 120ft, less for air resistance), with what looks like a very shallow trajectory (much less than 30-45 degrees). Then in the next shot, he falls from a great hight onto Marzi and Homsar's table, a large distance away from the action. And then The Poopsmith gets a score of "211pts" for the event, whatever that means. Any choice for The Cheat's actual trajectory would be arbitrary, and not match the toon.

However, for the purpose of argument, say that all the actual animation is unreliable, but the "211pts" figure is right, and actually means "211ft", just over 64m. Hey, it's as good as anything.

Now, a lower bound on the launch velocity would be if he was thrown at 45 degrees... any lower or higher, and he'd have to be thrown harder to get the same range. Some manipulation gets us a launch velocity of just over 25m/s. Which, with our 8kg figure gives us a kinetic energy of over 2500J and an impulse of just over 200Ns. Which is a lot. With my previous guess of 15kg, it'd be nearly double that. And, as mentioned, if the launch wasn't at 45 degrees, then it'd be even higher.

My The Cheat rests atop my computer, and I hadn't kicked him in a while, so I decided now would be as good a time as any to take care of that and play with science at the same time. First I massed him and came up with 496 g (I do realize he's not nearly as massive as the real The Cheat, but oh well). Then I kicked him 9.00 m at a launch angle of 25.6°, which would be an initial velocity of about 10.0 m/s. Plugging that into the equation above gives 24.8 J.

Basing it on Strong Bad's awesomeness I'd have to go as high as possible. So infinite.

The joule (symbol: J) is the SI unit of energy measuring heat, electricity, and mechanical work.

Wow, I missed the math boat. I'd shouldn't beat surprised to see Phlip jump on it first though. I would have had to look the physics equations up anyway. Physics class was far too long ago, and I don't use it all that often in my daily life.

As for my contribution... I think that TBC have made no attempt at precise heights and weights in the past, or any other measures of proportion. However, given how they've portrayed the characters in relation to real humans on the occasions they have done so, I wouldn't think it unreasonable to place The Cheat at 1 ft 2in, and Strong Bad at 3 ftish. Puppet Stuff proportions may not be reliable because they're hand puppets, but Crack Stuntman's appearance in "original" and Strong Bad's portrayal in the Behind The Bad shorts should give some perspective on their presumed sizes. Just because they look proportional to the stuff in Free Country, USA doesn't mean that they're the same size as humans. It just means that their stuff is made for people their size. Strong Bad is short!
