Some people on Youtube are saying that this was meant to be the finale of Homestar Runner. What does everyone else think. Also the website shows the Youtube version of this episode. I guess this means they've officially moved over to Youtube (although to be fair, 31 minutes without a pause button is pretty tough) #freecoachz

I think putting it on YouTube was a good idea for such a large amount of content, but considering that you had to switch between messages manually on MAM, it's an odd decision. Especially since the background is just a repeating animation of her answering machine, I can understand the fact that 30 minutes of voices is difficult to condense down.

Over all, moving to YouTube is pretty alright. Their revenue system isn't exactly great to anyone, especially animators, but it's HTML5-compatible and it's available to a much broader audience.

Seems to me YouTube will have to figure out how to implement Easter eggs the same way the Bros. Chaps have done in the past, where you get to click on something while the video plays.

A 30-minute cartoon?! Great! It was real funny too. :trogdor:

I think the decision to post this cartoon as a YouTube video was made primarily to avoid using Flash, since the Internet as a whole is moving away from Flash due to its inherent security flaws.

(Many mobile devices, especially Apple iOS devices, don't support Flash at all).

Unfortunately, you do lose the interactive nature of the Flash platform this way, but the video format is at least more compatible with mobile devices.

I think there are some other programming languages that lend themselves to setting up interactive animation, but it would probably add a lot more production overhead for TBC to learn a new platform.

I think any future Homestar content will be posted via YouTube for the forseeable future.

As for the cartoon itself, I thought it was fantastic. I like how it basically described everything that's happened over the last seven years. I also can see how some fans could see this as being intended as the "final" Homestar cartoon overall, as it does reveal some long-standing mysteries and tie up some loose ends in a way.

Either way, I had a feeling that there would be something new on April Fools and I wasn't disappoint.

The days of weekly Strong Bad cartoons are long past, but knowing the pop up something new every so often is great. I wouldn't be surprised if they officially close the books, though.

This is the first time I didn't watch a Homestar Runner movie to the end.

I gave up after ten minutes.

I hope they won't make a full length movie watching the answering machine.

I think the easiest way to 'watch' this is to leave it open in a tab while you do other stuff, like a podcast.

It's got some pretty good lines, like the catchphrases Bubs comes up with, Homestar's variations on "sharpied onto the bathroom wall of history!", and the Coach Z arch is kind of funny. But if you just sit there staring at the answering machine animation loop, it can lag.

Exactly how I listened to it -- playing in the background while I was at work, like a podcast or streaming radio.

I don't think I could sit and watch the screen for 30 minutes.

It was posted on April 1st, so I can't be alone in thinking they're all saying things that they would never say?
