Eh.. well.. to inform some of you, a .fla file is the save file for the application Flash MX, while a .swf file is the end result of the project. It opens in a browser (it's the file you see on Homestarrunner.com) or Flash Player.

Not that I know of, No_toppings, no. However, I have an older version of Flash, so there may be a new feature in the 2004 edition.

EDIT-After trying some things out, I discovered that you can do this in a way.

1. Download the .swf file of choice
2. Open Flash MX
3. Go to "File"
4. Click on "Import..."
5. Select the .swf file from the open menu
6. Edit it from there

Note that it will be a bit choppy, and I'm not sure if it will open the .swf file's library and import it along with it, but it's a start.

That really only imports the symbols with some animation and most .swf files are protected and cannot be imported. You should try looking at the program Imperator °FLA. It does a pretty good job of converting .swf files to .fla files similar to the original. However, you have to pay for it to convert actionscript. Also, if you just want to import .swf files, try searching Google for programs that unlock the .swf files to enable import. I know there are some of those out there.
