The most offensive thing on the site in my opinion is , surprisingly a quote from Strong Sad. In the email Different town when, strong bad is up on the stool, strong sad comes in and says

STRONG SAD: No... Calm down, spazz.

I was really surprised when he said that because it is offensive to peolpe with disabilities. So what's your views on this?

I never thought about it that way. I don't think TBC intended to make fun of anyone with disabilities. But they make fun of a lot of stuff, like poor people who can't buy a Pop-Tart. And some say Homsar is supposed to be mentally challenged. And what about Coach Z's accent?
I don't know; I've never been offended by anything on the site.

Speaking as an older brother of a child with autism, AND as a teacher's assistant for children with severe and profound disabilities, I can honestly say it doesn't bug me at all. :bubs:

Now the King of Town, on the other hand... well, as an overweight guy with a mustache myself, his character offends me very deeply.

Kidding. ;)

I never even considered the "spaz" quote to have anything to do with people with disabilities at all. Of course, I suppose I could just be ignorant.

The thing with the site, though, is everything is presented in such a way as to make it non-offensive, at least to me. Though perhaps I've just become such a jaded internet person that almost nothing bothers me anymore.

Don't forget on Sb_Email22 where Strong Bad shared his thoughts on the english. That could offend the English.

Nothing on the site particularly bothers me, but I have noticed points in which the humor gets a little edgy. (i.e. "I'll print it out and show it to my kids...the ones that I SHOULD be having with Ali and Ali's Sister!" That's probably one of the most provacative instance on H*R.com) But they're pretty good at keeping it PG. I never really thought of the 'spazz' comment as offensive. Heck, my friends call me a spazz all the time, and I'm perfectly normal. Mostly. ^_~

What? Homestar Runner doth offend? No... Spaz is just a general term meaning "weirdo." Maybe in some places it refers to disabilities, but where I come from, it just means odd...

Nothing on homestar offends me in any way. That's what I love about it. It requires no political, religious or ethic beliefs in order to be funny. It just is :-)

There's nothing really offensive about Homestarrunner.com. I meam, it's supposed to be the opposite of all those other flash sites that make cheap South Park rip offs. I'm really not offended by anything on that site.

Don't forget Strong Mad's immortal line in the sbemail "2 emails" that's somewhat long those provocative lines: "I WANT ACTION."

Old Strong Bad used to be rather mean and somewhat raunchy. The most offensive thing I can think of is the poster in his room... from his secret main page.

Eh, same for me, there's nothing really offensive. The only thing I can think of is Strong Bad lauging hilariously at Homestar's bleeding in the Yello Dello cartoon. The blood on the Halloween main page also makes me a bit queasy, but other than that there's nothing horrible on the site.

Stu's alive! And back! Huzzah!

Then there's TGS 3 where Cheerleader says "Well, I think it's hella tight." Probably the closest they've gotten to profanity on the site.

I think that TBC were just joking how some people will call others a "spazz", and there's Strong Sad doing it. TBC would never intentionally offend someone. The worst thing that I can think of comes from trevor the vampire, where Strong Bad almost said "-CENSOR'd!!-", but even then they were joking. Nowadays though, TBC don't joke around like that as much because their audience is much bigger and a lot of younger kids watch.

I suppose "spazz" chould be offensive to people with ADD, but Strong Bad in funny, and, well, anywhere almost, could be taken the same way.

Well, the number one most offensive scene is the "Screw all ya'll" egg, because its cursing. Plus the "sleep" command in PQ. Other than that, nothing about the site's ever really bothered me.

The best thing, IMHO about hr is that it is funny WITHOUT being offensive, which is very hard to do today!Humor through offending has become so commonplace since Bevis and Butthead and Southpark that now the real challenge is to be funny without offending, and hr does this perfectly.

A lot of cartoons out there are either incredibly offensive (Southpark) or take themselves WAY to seriously for cartoons! (i.e. anime).

Hr is about as offensive as Looney Tunes, and about as serious as well, which is how cartoon should be, I think.

At least thats my opinion. :ehsteve:

I interpret "calm down spazz" more as "calm down, person who's spazzing"- spazz not so much a nickname but a description. Just like "slow down speed" implying "slow down, speedy person"

Hmm...as offensive as I think it gets is maybe the ending of Awexome cross 98. You know, the scantily clad women.

Edit: Well another one popped into my head. Cheat commandoes, believe it or not. THe part where Reynold says "oh I gotta go grocery shopping, I wish my girlfriend didn't leave me". I find it a little offending to those of us like me who think unmarried couples shouldn't live together.

Apparently, you don't know exactly how many Looney Tunes cartoons have been either edited or banned outright these days due to being offensive (or rather, offending some people). I could go into a rant about that, but I'll spare everyone.

You Said it! I have all the looney toons on dvd, and there is a snippit of some nude people in the background. And I thought Looney toons was a kids show.

No, I'd have to say, homestar is pretty clean. Though the Strong -sad-grabbing-his-butt thing was kinda weird... But funny.

Well I know about the WWII-era ones because they contained some anti-Japanese propaganda that would be considered racist today, as well as insults against Germans as well--but at the TIME they weren't considered offensive.

However, HR is even less offensive than Looney Tunes--not nearly as much sensless/comic violence in HR! (Although there is some).

Although Im sure if H*R gets more and more popular, we'll all Jerry Falwell on TV saying that the King of Town and the Poopsmith are gay, or something. :p lol

Um... "spaz" is short for "spastic". Which is a mental disability.

Doesn't bother me, though. :poop:

Wow, that's like, still really close to dropping an f-bomb.

Anyway, I would say "Sisters" would be the most 'offensive' thing.

Just for the record it didn't offend me , just surprised me that TbC would include it and risk offending people .Especially, as has been said before, it is normally good clean fun.
