hello everyone, heres something thats been on my mind for a while, Why do people think that the Harry Potter books teach children to hate god, and to get into satanic magic? I think they dont, its just a fun book that helps kids want to read. besides, all the magic in those books are fake. the real magic is that of the Occult, [aganism, wicca, and others, and they all involve using magic circles, not waving a wand and saying something stupid. now im mad, :sm: :sm: , whats ur opinion?

EDIT: Please note, The title of this Thread was created before this TEL WHAT U THINK! fad, so it is in no way connected to the Fad, other than the Name.

EDITx2: I deleted it, i figure that if the source is eliminated, then the sentinels will fall.

EDITx3: allright, i got numerous emails about peole telling em to put it back on, so there it is. its back on.

Idon't think Harry Potter is satanic. Lots of books have magic in them, and Harry Potter just happens to be a really popular series. Now, I do have some friends who think Dungeons and Dragons is satanic and "satan worship", but that's another story. Anyways, the only bad thing you might say about Harry Potter is that it teaches kids to break rules. I might consider it satanic, however, if, say... Voldemort was the main character and his actions were supported. But that is not gonna happen anytime soon.

Most of the hype of this was started by an infamous article by The Onion. The books do not ever include instructions, or anything plausible. They're so packed with fluff I avoid them.

It's all a big fuss about nothing. And guess what, it sometimes benefits the company. When there's contreversy, people want to see what it's about, so more books sell. Once again, revolves around money.

Heck no at all. It's all fluffy puff. It's a story. Books. It's just people over-reacting.

I personally think parts of Harry Potter are a bit 'iffy' if you are a Christian and definetly don't approve of the books other people bring out like Harry Potter Book of Spells but I don't think the Harry Potter novels themselves are any harm, as long as you can distinguish between fantasy and reality. The occult is not something to be messed with! I think the books are good but not for children. I personally think they are quite dark for a kid's book and the whole themes are suited best to those who are more mature like teenagers and older people.

I have no idea why they think so- I don't really understand religion. But controversy does lead to intrigue. Even Harry Potter demonstrated that in the 5th book with The Quibbler.

I agree with Tintin in that the books are better suited to older kids. But if you've read the books, you'll notice that they get "darker" as the series goes along. Also, as Harry gets older, the reading level of the books also goes up. For example, something of the caliber of Phoenix would never be shelved in the Ages 9-12 section at my store if it weren't part of a series; the reading level is more of a 13+ teen book. I think perhaps Ms. Rowling's intent was for the reader to grow with Harry. Each book is a year of his life, and if someone got into reading them when they were first released, they'd have had to wait a couple of years between releases, and so would have matured a little, and be more "ready" for the next book.
As for the Satanism, I just don't see it. A lot of the spells used in the books are just Latin words. "Oculus reparo" literally means "I restore/repair your eye". Some of them are just made-up, and that element of foreign-ness might be what puts people off.
I think they're great books, and I pity the kids whose parents won't allow them to read them.

First off, Ouji Boards are made to make money, not to connerct with the dead. Second, Harry Potter being an instrument of the Devil makes about as much sense as most of Homsar's quotes. It's a book. They're not trying to turn out kids into Satan worshippers. That's what Dora the Explorer is for. :p

That's not true! Everybody knows that's Barney The Dinosaur. And to prove it, just look at this evidence:

C = 100
V = 5
T
E

P
V = 5
R
P
L = 50
E

D = 500
I = 1
N
O
S
A
V = 5
R
--------
= 666

first off, that pic of barney wearing whats that bands name symbol, is freaking awesome.
Second: a quija board that actually works is one that has been carved out of wood, and it cant just be a peice of wood with the alphabet and the numbers sctratched in on it. i mean, like, you gotta etch into it perfectly the designes that are on the cardboard ones, i.e. parker brothers one. its gotta be that designe eched into it PERFECTLY. yeah, anymore knowledge on magic, wicca, the occult, paganism, or my gener of magic that i created, Guardian x'el Magi, just P.M. me. uhh ohh.... i think that was spam..... SORRY!!!!!!! FORGIVE ME!!!!!!!!! DONT TAKE ME OFF'A LIST!!!!!!!!!

Satan Potter is a bunch of crap. I can't believe people are actually dumb enough to believe it.

This ought to either give you a good laugh or make you spew: http://www.exposingsatanism.org/harrypotter2.htm

The article Jerome posted wrote:
A phoenix, favourite symbol of Freemasons like Hilary Clinton...

Aren't only men allowed to be Freemasons, or have they changed the rules?
Anyway, that article is absolutely ridiculous. Talk about reaching to find connections.
As for the "Onion" article, beware of mild language at the end of the article. 'Twas hilarious, though. I liked how they said Origin of Species was Satanic. Just silly.

I don't know anything about a band that has that symbol, but it's a pentagram. (A holy symbol in Pagan relgions, and it was often used as a symbol for the devil which was a way to stamp out paganism, along with making Friday the 13th unlucky, etc.)

Anyone who thinks that Harry Potter is satanic is, in my opinion, a complete moron. Harry Potter is just a piece of fiction.

exactally, so we gotta show people that kids turning to satanic ways because of those books is a load of rubbish. i located the tape that was recorded of that 9 yearold girl who was conjuring up that demonic dog thing in the article. in the tape, she mentions that her parents divorce was the main reason she turned to satanism, and the harry potter books, she read AFTER[i][b] she turned to satanic ways. infact, in the tape, it also seems like she is being forced to say thos things, so the onion, and anyone who belives what they wrote in that article is true, is just a gullible middle american, perfect movie like life, christian/catholic. so thats the word america, now go drink a soda, and get sugar high.

I don't think they're evil. I just think they're weird. And that last one... I wasted, like, two weeks of my life reading it.

I think it's a bunch of lunch meat... they celebrate Christmas in the books, and all they do is fight evil.

:eek:

My hopes and dreams have just been shattered.

But yeah, seriously. The Onion's been the premiere satire news source for awhile. :)
