I switch two months ago from IE to Mozilla Firefox. I wil never ever go back to IE! I use Mozilla Thunderbird too. Both are wonderful and I can't wait for 1.0 to come out...

IE. It's ok, and I'm resiliant to change. Strangely, I think it's because once I try something, I like it!

Opera.

Oh no, that's one word, I'll be sued. (despite the fact that it's the name of a web browser that just happens to consist of only one word)

No_loafing, please stop trying to be a mod, and stop telling others what to do.

Duckshirt's post was on-topic and relevant. Just because he didn't write a sonnet about it doesn't mean it's spam.

I use Safari as well. As most of you know, IE isn't the best thing out there, especially if you have a mac; and if so, I'd definitely recommend getting Safari because:
A. It's free
B. It owns
C. Looks SO much better (though it's not really a good reason, it had to be said)
D. I've never explored the Internet, but I've been on a safari.

Since it's only for Mac, maybe I should get a Safari emulator.

Err.. there is no "emulator" for Safari (or at least, a legally published one). Apple obviously owns the rights to the source code and such in the Safari program, so if a person made an edit to it (the program), and publicly disperse it, they'd be violating copyright laws.

Well, there is PearPC, with which you can run OSX on your PC, and thus Safari.

It's also worth noting that Safari's rendering engine is based on KHTML, the rendering component in KDE's Konqueror (and, as a result, GPL'd), and you can always run Konqueror on your Windows box with KDE on Cygwin.

Or you could just run Firefox, which is comparable (to say the least).

Firefox (which I recently downloaded) is actually really amazing. In particular, the add-ons and expansions (especially the Wiki one). There are just a few reasons that I think that Safari is better, and one is that it takes at least 10 seconds to start up, while Safari opens immediately. Also, the Safari window design is (IMO) much more user-friendly than the Macintosh version of Firefox.

I use SBC Yahoo DSL, which comes with it's own browser. It's very quick an easy to use, except it has one fatal flaw. When I right-click on a picture, there is no properties menu! So if I need the URL of a jpeg or gif, I needs to open Internet Explorer...

I'm almost afraid to ask, but.. why on earth would you not be allowed to use an open-source browser?

You do know that much of the technology behind Netscape is open-source (e.g. it uses Gecko, the same open-source rendering engine as Firefox), too, right?

Maybe you should get a laptop that you could put Firefox on.

I use Firefox as well, but I really wish they would come out with some new themes and extensions. It seems like it's been months since we had a new one.

Yeah, if you can afford it.
Anyway, I am currently on IE, but very soon I will change. I just want to ask: should I get Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird, or just Mozilla? I looked on their site and I'm pretty sure Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird is what I should have after reading a page on mozilla.org.

I downloaded Firefox once because it said it had some kind of script helping thing, which I wanted, because whenever I'm trying to make a website and testing it, the error messages don't give very specific problems, so I have to look through the entire script and find the errors. I downloaded it and it wasn't that great. Maybe I'll still use it, though. I currently use IE.

You're probably thinking of the JavaScript Console, which is under the Tools menu (I'm not sure, but it might only show up if you install the Web Developer Toolbar). It's pretty handy. If you want some serious debugging help, though, I recommend the Venkman debugger, which IIRC you can install as an extension.

I don't enjoy gaping security holes in my browsers, so I've switched to Firefox for good now. I like how I have easy access to my cookies, and tabbed browsing is awesome. Firefox can also install itself on Windows Crashy Eight without much of a problem.

Good for you! Yay Firefox users!

But anyways- I use Thunderbird as my mail client and I say that you should definately use Firefox and Thunderbird. The way it disposes of junk mail before my eyes is amazing. Spectacular. Genius!

It rocks.
