What video games have your favorite music?

I really like the Music in Windwaker, and Twilight Princess (shocking!). I beat OCT over and over again just to here the credits music. I also learned how to play "Zeldas Lullaby" on the piano, the whole thing*, like the credit version.

Other than that, I can't really think of games where the music stood out. But I'll post them if I think of them.

*yes, i have a lot of free time.

KATAMARI DAMACY
Nanananananananananananana....
Check it out, I funk it up...haha The Moon And The Prince is the best song on there.

Well other than that obvious choice, I love Megaman 1-5's music. Best 8-bit music of the time.

The music from Final Fantasy VII. Such awesome stuff... I need to buy the soundtrack sometime.

I'm very fond of some OoT songs, and the MM "Song of Healing" (full version), but I have to say I absolutley LOVE all of Kirby's Airride songs. They are awesome.

EDIT: Thanks to ChinChinderich, here's the Song of Healing

Original Mario music. It was awesome. And most RPG music is pretty cool.

Just to name a few.

Planescape: Torment. The music didn't really register when I was playing but later on when I heard the soundtrack alone, I was amazed.

Megaman 2. I always have some tune from this game running through my head.

And I'll always have a special place in my heart for the Pharmacy song in Revalations: Persona.

I can't have a favorite, so I'll list my top favorite game songs.

Shadow of the Colossus and ICO
Both of these games had very Riveting music. I still get chills whenever I listen to the introduction music of SOTC.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
The Song of Healing had a very saddening yet warming touch whenever it was played. Especially with Paulitine and her Father. The End of the World was played during the last six hours (or six minutes) of the world of Termina before the Moon crashed. The Clock Town Theme Song just had a very nice tune to it.

Katamari Damacy
You're a Lonely Rolling Starrrrrr....

Mother, Mother 2, and Mother 3
The series is known for it's very quirky, loving, and imemrable music. The songs that I love the most are: Pollyanna, Bein' Friends, and Queen Mary's Theme Song from Mother. Cave of the Past, Ness' House, and Saturn Valley from Mother 2. And the Mother 3 Theme Song and the music that plays during the scene when Flint finds out that his wife died.

Do I have to pick just one? :P Reading the previous posts, I suppose not...

Katamari Damacy: It doesn't matter if you don't understand half the lyrics. Just try not to sing along. Fun fact: When my friend first fired up this game, I was in another room, but the speaker started blaring the opening theme. I thought for a second he'd turned on one of his parent's CD's!

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards: Sort of an overlooked game, if you ask me, but the music is fantastic! The music from level 1-2 is one of the most soothing, serene pieces of music from any video game I think I've ever played. I don't think I've ever heard a piece anywhere that sounds exactly like the music in 2-4, which sounds more like its setting than any song I think I've ever seen in a game. And the music for the fight with Miracle Matter, the semi-final boss? Spine-tingling. I want an MP3 of it sooo bad.

Star Fox Adventures: Another game everyone overlooks. But the music was really awesome! The Ocean Force Point music sounds like something from a movie, and I love to "Hey-o hey-o" right along with the Thorntail Hollow music. :P

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Aww, c'mon, you didn't think I forgot, did you? ;D You know you know Gerudo Valley by heart. Don't deny it.

I like Sword of Mana's music. It's quite pretty. Sometimes I just pause the game and hold the Gameboy speaker up to my ear.

Going back to my obsession with that one SNES game that nobody's ever heard of, Goof Troop had some awesome music. Seriously.

Yeah, nobody cares. :)

Hey, I know that game. It's quite fun. Don't remember anything about the music though, except for the boss battle theme.
"We will smash you! We will crush! We will bash you! Into mush!
Anyways.
So many I wanted to say (OoT, MM and Megaman 2 for example) so I will not just repeat everything that has been said. I will, however, say that I agree with almost everything said so far in this thread.

Here goes...

The Metroid series
Ah. Great stuff. It sets up the atmosphere nicely. My favorites are Kraid's Hideout from the original Metroid and Lower Norfair from Super Metroid.

Live A Live
Every theme is pretty awesome in this one, especially "Demon King Odio," which is a really cool ominous organ tune. Some of Yōko Shimomura's best work, I might say.

Every Final Fantasy game
Duh. I've gotten really tired about Final Fantasy, but I must admit that Uematsu's work rocks. I think that the fourth game (FF2 for American people) has one of the coolest boss themes ever. And Temple of the Fiends from the original FF was awesome... Those two are the ones I care about the most, but the FF series is filled with good music.

Chrono Trigger
Dude. It's Chrono freaking Trigger. What else do you need to know? This game has my favorite video game soundtrack ever. Lavos' second form's theme gets the second place in my "Best boss music" list. (The very last boss of Kirby 64 takes the cake.)

Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2
Great stuff. I highly recommend Parasprinter from NG2. Prison of the Dead and Balisk Mines from NG1 are awesome too. That's it.

Honorable mentions: Tales of Phantasia, Castlevania 3, Startropics 2.
Let me add that although Castlevania 2 is not mentioned in this post, Bloody Tears is dazzling.

Yoshi's Island is not only my favorite video game ever, but the music is awesome too! The credits music is the best. Okay, maybe I just like the game a lot so I think the music is good too, but c'mon. You can't beat the credits music of that game.

I also will like any game that has good credits music. I hated the end of Minish Cap, but the credits were good.

Oh, man. Don't make me choose. There are so many games with awesome music out there. Kirby 64, LoZ: OOT, the Mario games...anyone remember the map song from SMW2: Yoshi's Island? It got more instrumental as it went on; it was awesome.

To pick a single game is incredibly tough, but I'd probably have to go with Super Smash Bros Melee. It has a ton of great song from a ton of great games.

Boy, you know it! I like to just sit in Sound Test and listen to the music. It's especially fun to listen to the intricate little musical details they added...

I think my favorite mix from that game is the Fountain of Dreams one. That beginning just gets me going "WOAH!" every time!

I don't know about the best video game music, but the most annoying has to be from Metroid: Zero Mission. The Botfriend is playing that right now and the music drives me crazy!!

New item: SSBM

Thanks to CT :)

My most favorite songs from this game are the Mother soundtracks.

My other non-Mother songs are Kirby's Dreamland and the All-Stars theme.

And because brawl plans to have full orchestrated music with lyrics in latin, I think that brawl might have the best soundtrack.

Actually, just about any video game music becomes supremely irritating if you're not the one playing it. If someone's just playing it in the other room, it just gets on your nerves. The only game I can think of that survives this test is Katamari Damacy.

Super Smash Brothers Melee has some nice music. Soul Calibur II & III, definitely. Super Mario 64, all of the Legend of Zelda games. Metroid Prime and Echoes. Yes, I know I like a lot of video game music. :p

The music from that game is incredible. I especially like "Those who Fight Further".

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Fire Emblem seris. Who can forget
"Together, We Ride!"?

http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/ni ... WeRide.mid

Mario and Lugi also has some good music. Just the normal battle music is pretty catchy.

http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/ni ... battle.mid

Try vg music to listen to any video game songs. But don't try offsite linking. It gets cranky if you try it.

EDIT: Use the url's under each thingy to hear the songs. Heh, loophole.

MM games, Yoshi's Island, ect. ect....

I also like to listen to osme old platformer game music. The early Crash Bandicoot stuff is cool, and pretty much all the Spyro songs are awesome.

I also enjoy the music in Ratchet and Clank. It can be as calm or as in intense as it freaking wants to be.
