Yeah. I appreciate the effort your friend must have put into it, but it's really kinda awful. It could have been funny, but it fell short. Really short.

By the way, if Strong Bad did have a British counterpart, he sure wouldn't have a Mary Poppins/Harry Potter accent. He'd probably have more of a cockney accent. IMHO.

The curious thing about England is that it's a very small country that has perhaps a dozen different dialects and accents. Compare that to Australia, which is many, many times the size of England, but where most everybody speaks with the same accent. Weird.

Well, he did spend some time on that. I'm kind of offended, though. No offense meant.

Thing is, I just hate the stereotype that every British person is a posh, apologetic wimp. The vast majority of us are not. I mean, come on. We DID bring forth Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, the Sex Pistols, Judas Priest and so on. Suppose he didn't make it seem like a raging stereotype. It's just that accent. There were many others that don't sound like Pip off South Park. Such as Yorkshire, Scouse, West Country, Cockney, Suffolk, Geordie, Birmingham and so forth. I'm from the West country myself, so I don't really sound anything like that. I sound a bit more like Ozzy Osbourne, only I pronounce my "r"s a bit more. One question, did your friend know about me before submitting that? Or was it just a coincidence?

Oh, and no-one has described anyone, not even jokingly, as "that fellow" since the mid 1850s. We say "bloke" nowadays.

Just so you know, no English person has ever said "anyways" in the history of the world. Ever.

We have always used slang. Haven't you ever heard of "cockney rhyming slang"? All you have to do, is combine two words usually connected with the conjunction "and", and have the last word rhyme with the word you want it to rhyme with. Eventually, drop the first word.

Example:

"Stop filling your face with jockeys, take off your weasel and go up your apples and pears before you get a clip in the Britneys!"

Jockeys- Jockey's whips- Chips. (Fries.)
Weasel- Weasel and Stoat- Coat.
Apples and pears- Stairs.
Britneys- Britney Spears- Ears.
Simple as that. We also have various different euphemisms. Euphamist..euph...slang words. I was just describing cockney. You can also find many, many different words around the country. Oh, and does America have Peter Kay? He's one of the best comedians in the world. He does speak with a pronounced Bolton accent, and speaks about British things, though, so you might not "get" him. One joke of his which is my personal favourite is "How do you kill a circus? Aim for the jug'lar."
Once again, this has been the real Strong Lad, standing up.

Holy crap! Are those slang words predefined or do people have to actually sit and decode each one of them every time they hear them?

I remember seeing a bit of that style of slang in Ocean's Eleven: "We're in Barney." (everyone gives him a weird look) "Barney Rubble! Trouble!"

One time, I went to Britain and I stayed with my second cousins once removed (or vice versa, I forget). Anyway, they said that they could talk with an American accent, and said like a cowboy, "Let's shoot us some injuns!". That shows that we're not the ONLY ones who think of an entire culture only one way. (And she wasn't joking when she said that)

That line always makes me roll my eyes. It's like the writers were sitting around asking themselves, "how can we remind the audience that he's really weird and British?". There should be a law against American writers writing British characters. And vice versa.

I was watching The Meaning of Life the other night (I always fast-forward through the Mr. Creosote part.. it gimme the jibblies..) and it's hilarious watching the boys play Americans. They all sound like John Wayne. But their intention is to be funny, poking fun at good ol' Americans (rather than poking fun at Britins, which is what they usually do). "Do all philosophers start with S?"

And no, Gemini, folks who use Cockney rhyming slang don't have to "decode" it anymore than a hip-hop fan has to decode Jay-Z or a square dancer has to decode the caller. It's part of their consciousness, just like tech jargon is to me or musical jargon is to you.

Well, it was a nice effort! my friend drew a picture of strong bad that she called "Strong plaid", he was scottish. it was funny, but truthfully i dont think strong bad can be changed that like that very well, and be funny. he's just too one of a kind.

But remember our population is "only" 20 000 000. And also: there a few variations of Australian accent, but other countries might not hear it (like some people can't see a difference to Australian accent and New Zealand accent, but to us it is so obviously different!)
