I logged in and tried to switch my skin, to see how the wiki looks on another skin. I got this message:
Fatal error: Class skinchick: Cannot inherit from undefined class skintemplate in /home/hrwiki/public_html/skins/Chick.php on line 21

And now I get that message on every page. Wah!

That's great, but it doesn't help me because a) it's not the real answer, and b) I still can't get on in Firefox.

edit: It works ok in IE, so I'll be fine for today. Also I just noticed the bottom of the page says "powered by WikkiTikkiTavi 0.2T". Very clever reference.

I have been used to MediaWiki and how it works for a long time *cough**Wikipedia**cough*. This is why I don't really support this switch. No matter how you skin the site to look like MediaWiki, it still isn't the real thing. I would have to get used to at least two different wiki systems now.

But wouldn't it be possible for two version of the site, one with WWT, and one with MW? You could assign different people to update each. Yes, it wouldn't be a good idea, being more time-consuming, just a suggestion.

It's not a real switch. We used to use Tavi... This is just "going old school", back to our roots as a joke.

Nope, it isn't an April Fool's joke. MediaWiki was truly taxing not only our servers, but also our sysops and admins. We decided that we really never should have made the switch.

1. They're "modifying" it to look like MediaWiki again, right? How much do you want to bet that that'll be the excuse when everything is normal tomorrow, eh?

2. They gave us a good two months to prepare when we were just stopping name-changes... there's no way that they'd just suddenly change it out of the blue.

I do hope you people realize that it's a joke. The giveaway is the URLs. MediaWiki uses underscores, WTT doesn't. Example:

MediaWiki: http://hrwiki.org/index.php/Strong_Bad_Email
WTT: http://hrwiki.org/StrongBadEmail

Also note the lack of "index.php" in the WikkiTikkiTavvi URL.

Either way, it was poorly done. I'm quite disappointed. If it's an earnest switch, the abruptness of it was ill-concieved and likely to produce a swift dissertion of many more casual members of the Wiki. If it's a joke, then the mod's insistance of it are going to leave some people with a very bad taste in their mouths tomorrow, and a lingery anger.

That's just part of the joke. It's not too hard to figure out that it's a joke (hint: check out the main page's history) and if people don't find it funny, that's their problem. This is exactly like when BSWiki went Paradox'd in February. And I'm loving it.
