http://www.youtube.com/

Does anybody know how to save the videos you find from that site to your computer?

I haven't tried this, but here's what you could do in Firefox:

*Right-click on the page that has the full video.

*Select "View Page Info".

*Go to the Media tab & click Type to sort the files on that page by type.

*Scroll down until you find the video, then select Save As & save it!

Have you tried the popular search engine Google?

Actually, what you just posted makes no sense. Google provides websites, not information!

Well, sometimes you can find useful answers from results Google gives you. I know I've found some good crap before.

Also, this belongs in the HelpDesk.

Okay, I clicked on that link, and it says the first step for saving Youtube videos is to download Greasemonkey. I saved the Greasemonkey thing to my computer, but the extension is an "xpi", which my computer doens't recognize, so I can't do anything with it.

How do I get my computer to recognize "xpi" files?

And by the way...

No it doesn't! The HelpDesk description says "Ask questions about how to use the wiki." This isn't wiki-related.

Well, now it pretty much serves all purposes. That description is from a while ago.

Oh. Okay.

Well I have no problem with an admin moving this topic.

Actually, that wouldn't work. YouTube loads a small Flash file that plays the video from their servers, rather than loading the video itself. So, you'd get a nice, useless video player.

Okay, I opened the Greasemonkey thing up in Firefox, and it said that it was updating, then it said that it would install the next time Firefox restarted. So I quit Firefox, restarted my entire computer, then opened Firefox again, but no announcements came up saying that Greasemonkey had been successfully installed. My Firefox Internet page doesn't look any different either.

Is Greasemonkey already installed and I don't know it? Or am I doing something wrong?

Oh! Wait a minute! I just noticed a little monkey icon in the bottom right hand corner.

Okay, I'll try to follow the rest of the procedure on my own from here. I'll ask if I run into any more problems.

The Greasemonkey thing isn't necessary. Just go to KeepVid and enter the URL of the YouTube page. The files are in FLV (Flash Video) format, which means your usual media player won't play them. Of course, the solution is written in the very first question of the KeepVid FAQ:

KeepVid wrote:
How do I play videos I downloaded from YouTube?

First make sure the extension is .flv
Use VLC Player or FLV Player to open the file.

Okay, I have FLV player installed on my computer, and I can view my desired videos on the player. Is there any way to make the playing window bigger? It's a little small.

Indeed they are.

Anyways, so does anyone know how to make the FLV player screen bigger?
