I usually just stay up...

And yeah, Trapezoid, I read an article awhile back (like a year) about how Flash is getting used in some TV ads. But most middle-range (i.e. not Disney) animation for teevee and movies is done in higher-end programs the names of which I can't recall. But rent the film Waking Life and check out the special features, you'll see what I mean.

My point is, if H*R came out in theatres, more people would know about it. Then there would be people who would ruin it.

I think the good would outweigh the bad and it wouldn't be ruined.

I mean, there are people who hate Lupin III now because it was cool until it was on Cartoon Network and suddenly a bunch of guys were all over it (I believe my friend went to Otakon dressed as Lupin -- just to find, to his surprise, that everybody else was...), but if it hadn't been for Cartoon Network, I'd have never known about it, and I wouldn't have my favorite anime/manga.

Come on, think of more than yourself, man. :)

Well, also, like I said, putting it into theatres would cost a buttload of money, and also, it would take away from the interactivity that is available on the internet. DVD is the only way to go.

I gotta go with Ingiald on this one.

I guess I'm selfish. I don't want Hollywood to put their mitts on it and put it next to the new Damon Wayans movie. Or Joel Schumaker.

I like having it internetish. I don't even think it should be a DVD, it should be a computer program that opens up on your PC.

A DVD wouldn't work right.

That would take a ridiculously long time to load, though.

What, you mean you DON'T get up at 4 to see the new toon!?!?

i think if they made a movie it would be awesome...I think that they should try to get promoted more, i mean, dont u people think that it would be kool if their stuff was in stores everywhere, and how they could make even more money is they could make a cartoon for on t.v. :homsar:

I wouldn't mind if that were to happen but yet again, it is not my choice.

I think that it shouldn't be in theaters, but if the dvd came out without commercials the people who don't know about H*R would see it and not care they would think it was some PBS thing and avoid it (I'm pretty sure alot of people left the site after they saw the intro)

No, that was a public television show, and I agree Homestar would not work as a public thang. But if they use all the suggestions on this topic, make a 90 min. movie, and sell it on the website store, well... That would rock!

I wouldn't want to become over-commercialized though. I think I'd like H*R better if I didn't see him in every store I walked into. Take Garfield for example. I love the comic, but he has so much merchandise, especially after coming out with a movie. I'm tired of seeing him everywhere. I don't want the same thing to happen to H*R.

Two words for ya. INVADER ZIM. Once something gets bought by Nickelodeon, it gets ruined. That means that if H*R was turned into a cartoon, that would mean less Strong Bad, no Poopsmith, no "crap", and a whole lot more Homestar. Don't get me wrong, Homestar is cool, but if you have him centred in everything, it will become kinda monotonic. (Oh, Strong Bad is centred, but he pulls it off.) I don't even think they would allow E-mails for the show, as it would mean loads of legal mumbo-jumbo. And of course, there's a definate possibility that some other cartoons would complain. Like, "H*R's Trogdor is a rip-off of Rugrats' Reptar!" (It isn't.) "Strong Bad is a rip-off of Mucha-Lucha's Ricochet." (He isn't.) "The 20X6 segments are a total rip-off of yadda-yadda who-the-heck-cares." (Probably true, but annoying, none-the-less.)
See what I mean? If you ask me, a movie would be OK (ACTUALLY, I'm working on a possible H*R movie script as we speak.) but cartoon? No way, man. That "stave-it-off" thing? Probably the only chance to see big H on the box.

Invader Zim? That wasn't ruined when it was bought by Nick. It started by being bought by nick. Then cancelled after it show New York being blown up after September 11.

The number 1 top reason why there shouldn't be a movie is remember Pokemon? That was so popular. Think of Homestar as Pokemon. If Homestar came out with movies or games or cartoon shows on Nick, NOBODY WOULD LIKE IT. Same thing happened to Pokemon. Made so much stuff, it got unpopular.

I say TBC should NOT make a movie. It would ruin it horribly. Almost like a thatched roof cottage burninated by Trogdor.

Well. Let's review the main points and add some others.

1) I would love to see one and I'm sure everyone else would. The storyline would be complex, but I'm sure it could work.
2) Someone said something about time constraints and that it would take them "forever." I don't think this is necessarily true. It would take them as much time if not half the time of a regular motion picture. Maybe only a year or two. They would surely have more staff to help them for a major motion picture.
3) There would be no introduction of new characters or concept for that matter until the movie was completed. Look. If something comes out on the site that's new and then the movie comes out without it, what's the point? They just can't restart the movie and add characters in. Waste of money and time.
4) The site would RARELY be updated. As rarely as it is updated now tells you that it would probably be updated maybe once a month or something. But, considering that they used to update much faster than they usually have tells us that they are working on more than just the DVD. There's something big coming, I can feel it. It might actually possibly be a movie.
5) They've already said they're never doing it, so we probably should just forget it. It isn't going to happen no matter how much you or I want it to.
6) As a side-note, Cartoon Network was stupid to turn them down. They're probably haunted by that every day.
7) As someone said before, they might actually get fed up with it. However, this is VERY unlikely since this is their only line of profit and it has a gigantic fanbase that is still building greatly.
8) The DVD will be awesome, but most likely, there will be no movie.

I think that clears it up... yeah.... pretty much.

A legion of animators. The animation is not complex, and a few templates given to people would make it a lot easier. Get interns from NYU or somethine. INTERN'D!

Personally. I think a full length-movie might not be such a great idea. At first it seems cool, but... what on earth could Homestar and the gang do for more than an hour that couldn't be down seperately in short toons and such? It's just funnier being shorter. They honestly don't do a lot in the toons as far as locations. Free Country USA isn't that big. The only PLOT I could think of that would make up a H*R movie would be if they LEFT Free Country USA on a road trip or something that had Homestar and Strong Bad stuck together.

And still, this could probably be done better and funnier in a short, leaving more time for games and such for updates.

Anywayz..............

I think that H*R is bst used in shor intervals, no olnger than 10 minutes. A full length movie might be good, but what would be the use?

Webtoons are for people-on-the-go. You can just watch a SBEmail, and walk away. A movie would hideously dumb down all the characters, because they'll all have too much screentime.

I think that they should just make a trailer for one... like with Peasant's Quest.

They could have that extremely dramatic music in the background...

Now that would be funny. I would love to see that. But just as long as it stays a trailer.
