It's not hard to sign an edit, it's just error proof if the signature is automatically done.

Yeah, I did.
I don't think it'd make things harder, though.
When a user makes a post that gets edited, they'll go "who edited my post". If they look at the bottom of the post, they'll be able to see who edited it.

Granted, if someone else edits it, then the original editor would be gone, BUT there's no reason for two people to edit a post, so I don't really see it being a problem.

It'd be a step up from people whining about their posts being anonymously edited, wouldn't it?

Eh, I still say signing it is something you could do with basically no real effort if you wanted to. I mean, Kef would do it... Although that's just because if he doesn't sign his name on a post he loses control and goes on a murdering spree, but still. You see my point, right?

You can't really predict that, though.

If you guys are going to be like this, then I don't know if anything will be solved. I was just joking.

You have to remember that tone doesn't carry over the internet like it does in face-to-face conversation. I acctually didn't catch much of a joke from that.

But whatever, let's drop it.

I'm back for tonight, then after this Monday work for the semester will be pretty much over.

I know I haven't done a perfect job as mod, but I promise that I will be a better mod from now on. :)

What did Ian do to deserve his bad rep?

There's a couple reasons for their dislike of Ian. Some people don't like Ian's modding style and think he just follows Dids (which, while he agrees with him on a lot of issues, is definitely not the whole truth) and some simply don't like him as a person (which isn't really a fair way to judge one's modding by). I hope you guys will give him a chance now, though. He doesn't deserve all the badmouthing you guys have given him at times.

So what are the decisions? I heard something about Ace getting modship (I still think we don't need more mods, but it's not my decision).

What have the admins declared?

OK, we are working on this. Just finishing the last touches. Be still, Taggart. We'll have it all done by the end of the weekend.

You're not really in a position to be making demands.
If there was a problem with Ian's style, he'd be out as a mod.
Don't like it?
Leave.

TRUTH. If it appears that Ian and I agree on a lot of things, it's because we're both in agreement with the rest of the Mods and Admins. It's not like Ian and I have carte blanche to mod just however we feel like. We are part of the same team with Tiger, Ju, Ed, Kef, Rad, and Ram, and we communicate with them about Mod policies and procedures. We don't just do what we want.

Quote:

This, to me, seems to be the real problem. The gripes about Ian's modship started even before he was granted privileges in the system. So I can't help but feel a good chunk of it is because they don't like him as a person. Granted, he's made mistakes - as if those who gripe the loudest haven't made plenty of their own! But I'd hoped by now you guys would realize that, if you're already hostile toward someone, you can't reasonably expect that they won't react.

My sentiments exactly. Time and time again, we've tried to tell you, if you work with us, we'll work with you. And that goes for Ian, too. And if you ever get the impression he's not holding up his end of the bargain, then talk it over with another Mod, or with an Admin.

It's possible, but remember, everything in both this thread and the SI thread from which this spawned are by no means final. They're just suggestions - we're communicating our ideas as we said we would. So, don't be surprised if all the people mentioned don't become mods.

Quote:
(I still think we don't need more mods, but it's not my decision)

Well, there's a couple reasons we're bringing in some new mods. First, PMG stepped down, so we needed someone to replace him. Second, we're changing the organization system for mods - there will be two groups of mods each modding six boards, so we need more then 3 people per group for that.

But, if you don't agree with the things we're doing, speak up! That's what this whole thread is based on - people other than the modmins putting their thoughts into our decisions. And the more input we get, the easier it is to make good beneficial decisions

I think you guys'll be very happy about who's been chosen to take his spot (I'm guessing that the new mods will be promoted over the weekend, so I'm just gonna leave that one as a surprise until then. Someone else might mention it, though)

With the old and new mods, is Interruptor Jones still around? I see that he's still mod for a couple sections (I think GTKY and Off-Subject), but he never seems to be on anymore.

Nah, there's someone other than the four people that have been mentioned here specifically taking Inverse's spot.

I dunno why I'm keeping it a secret. Heck, he'll probably see this and just tell you guys. I just thought I'd keep at least some of the suspense about mod promotions intact.

He shows up briefly. He's not considered one of the active mods, though, so he's not going to be in any of the groups (unless he gets active again alter)

Dude, you'd get promoted if you stopped whining every time you didn't. Or had a cooler temper in R&P.

So uh how many new mods are we getting? 4 more? Lose two, gain twice as much?
