You're a jerk, and spare me that "this is the Internet" tripe. I don't care if that's been said a million times, and I certainly hope you'd keep a better sense of decorum when dealing with people in real life. Why did you automatically assume that I don't like "Guitar Hero" or "Rock Band" because of ego? Uh, especially considering that I already said that it's not a "downcast glare upon people who aren't good enough because they'd rather play a videogame." Secondly, you didn't advance the conversation very far. I already established that some people didn't want to learn how to play guitar. I was simply ruing this in the same way that you see a cloudy day and wish it was sunny.

Well, it's true that if you put as much time into playing a real guitar as Guitar Hero on Expert, you'd probably get just as good. But on the other hand, they're completely different things, requiring different skills. Guitar Hero has five frets and one string. A real guitar has six strings and twenty frets (ordinarily.) Guitar Hero is really just a test of hand-eye coordination. Real guitar is ear-hand coordination. DDR isn't anything near real dancing, but it's still fun, right? The same is true for Guitar Hero. You can't have a face-off with your friend where you try to hit as many notes as possible with a real guitar (well, you can, but you'd really suck.) Likewise, you can't play any songs that really mean something to you on Guitar Hero. They just aren't the same thing.

And I never got barre chords on real guitar ;)

Yeah, yeah. Point taken. And even if I don't like it, others do, so there has to be something going on for it.

I just can't wait to see what they're going to make a video game out of next.

(And secretly, I can't do barre chords either, but playing guitar with technical professionalism was never one of my goals.)

K, I've figured out why exactly I don't like going for 100% on songs.

I have stupid hands. Seriously, I'm almost guaranteed one or two stupid mistakes, even on Medium. And I don't fancy getting through 75% of Cliffs of Dover and having to restart just because I missed one.

Interesting. This guy compares Rock Band and Guitar Hero songs at the same time.

You can see which is more top heavy. But of course, all Guitar Hero has is guitar, so it's okay to go over the top.

Anyways, I don't know if Rock Band has a multiplayer mode like guitar-microphone or bass-drum or drum-guitar or something like that. Does it?

Yeah. It does. I read it in a magazine somewhere.

Huh...

Wow, that is quite interesting analysis there.

Here's another by a different guy. Watch the Cherub Rock versions at the end for the most striking comparisons.

Guitar Hero has a tougher note sheet than Rock Band. From what I can see, it's because they sometimes add base notes to the note chart if you're only playing lead, because they're a lot more interesting and harder, while Rock Band has you playing lead and ONLY lead.

Speaking of some-what made up notes, why does Raining Blood have a triple chord at the end for the rain?

I have to chime in here... just got GH3 for my birthday last week. I'm stuck on the second half of the solo on Cult of Personality on expert. The noodling is just too much :(

And I fear the Slayer....

Oh, it's also coming out of Wii? I was gonna get a PS3 just for this, but if it's coming out for Wii, I'll just wait. Also, I don't know what Q1 means.

I was stuck there for a while. Slowing it down in practice mode helped me even though it usually doesn't. Also, save your star power. But you already knew that.

E1M1 wouldn't be good. It would either have to be the one on teh Tower of Babel level, or the one on the Icon of Sin level in Doom 2.

Even then, most of the songs in Doom are just MIDI versions of real songs.

Example: Check out the songs "Behind the Crooked Cross" by Slayer, and "Big Gun" by AC/DC.

Also, theres some Pantera in there, I just cant remember which.

Sorry, got called to babysit some Jewish kids at 8:30, just got back 15 minutes ago.

I'M A HORRIBLE WORTHLESS PERSON WITH NO SOUL

Hopefully we can ROKK tomorrow night though. I set up a wireless connection on the Wii earlier and found my friend code (4553-7553-2949-8711 juys) but I haven't found the GHIII code yet.

Eventually, young padawan.

Go into "Nintendo WFC", create a username, then.. I dunno, I think it's something like "Add Friends". When you're in there it'll have the number for your username on the top of the screen (if you make a different username with the same copy of the game it'll have a different number).
