(Actually, it's more like, get the prosecution to get the clown to say stuff, then interrogate said clown)

You're not supposed to trust me, I'm pretty. The out-of-character text says so. And if it was between you and Chinchilablabla, why did you say it loud enough for about everyone in the court to hear?

You're just too cute when you're angry, that's why. :)

(btw guys, if you're having trouble loading all the sprites on that one website, [which I certainly am] may I suggest http://www.court-records.net/sprites1.htm instead. Separate page for every character. )

(Thank you! I'll add that to the main page too. :) Ok, Prosecution, get on your toes and make the witness state their name and occupation and to tell us what they witnessed... )

Yes, witness. What did the witness witness? It's all been witnessed by the witness. I'm using the word witness too much, aren't I, witness?

Right, sorry.
So anyways, on the day in question I had my stand all set up just outside the hedge maze in Memorial Garden; walking the maze makes folks hungry, you know? I was dishing out a chili dog with the works when all of a sudden I sees the defendant over there come runnin' out of the maze like her pants were on fire! She had something in her hand, and I got a good look at it because the duck lake is just a few paces from the maze and that's where she threw it. The gun, I mean. Just chucked it in the lake and ran back into the maze!

Hmm... That certainly explains how the murder weapon ended up in the lake. Defense, you may proceed with your cross examination.

Not exactly... but I know it was just before three o'clock. I get off at 3 every day.
Er, that is, I take a break at 3 PM every day. So I'd say it was about... eh, 2:40, 2:45. 2:50 at the latest.

ImageOh, all day. I start at 8 AM sharp for the breakfast crowd. Did you know that there are people who will eat a hot dog for breakfast on their way to work? Unbelievable, huh?

Oh, here's your gavel, your honour. *gives the judge a big, balloon mallet*

So, it would be safe to assume that you had been outside the maze for the past few-several hours?

So then, Clowny McClownerson, if you were there for all that time, how come you didn't hear a gunshot a few yards away?

Listen, buddy, you could fire off a cannon in that maze and I probably wouldn't hear it! I got ladies chattering, obnoxious guys on cell phones, crying babies, Marty the homeless guy yelling at his invisible astronaut friend... you think nobody else was in the park?
Those hedges muffle sound, too. Heck, me and my girlfriend went in there once and we... er, you get the picture.

Come on, your honour... the old bump n' grind?
Geez, we must've made enough noise to wake the dead... but nobody can hear anything from outside the hedge maze.

Alright, alright. I suppose that's believable. And slightly too much information *shudder*

What did you do after you saw the defendant? Did you resume hot-dog related activities or what?

Well, I figured the lady threw the gun away, so it's not like she could hurt me, right? And she ran back into the maze anyway. So, uh, I figured once I got off work I'd call the cops. But they called me, as you know.

I'm a little confused here. If the park is fairly crowded, how come you were the only one to see the defendent with a gun? People running as if some prankster has combusted their pants are not a sight to be ignored, especially when they're carrying a gun in plain sight.

Something's bothering me, Chich. He said he saw the defendant just before he usually takes a break. Why didn't he call the cops then? I wouldn't wait if I saw something suspicious like that.
