I think most of the humor is coming from the fact that Homestar was bawling at just the opening of the show, not the opening of the show itself. Granted, most of the toon was the show opening, but it would be a lot less interesting if we were watching the opening on the TV, about 5 times smaller than it should be. They could have made the opening of the show funnier, but then you wouldn't feel bad for Li'l Brudder if he was doing crazy, wacky stuff.

And I definitely don't think this is the best thing on the site, but who cares? It's still a lot better than most of the other clean web humor out there, which is an achievement. I say try to enjoy it for what it is, not berate it for what it isn't.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

Cautiously optimistic/10

You know, Gillian, you have a good point there... Most web stuff, and T.V. is so corrupt, and stuff, that when you compare it, this toon really isn't all thast bad. Rating now: 6/10

I didn't think it was that great either... It was very distasteful, too. But I'd give it a 2/10, just for Homestar's bawling. Possibly the worst short yet, in my opinion. But at least they got to something besides Strong Bad's emails- that in itself is a plus.

That's probably a little more than I'd give it. I really didn't like the creation of dog-who-should-not-be-named and I would not cry if we never saw him again. I think the original idea is cruel and bordering inhumaine.
I happen to love dogs. I even had a cat that lost a front leg. It was pretty traumatic to the poor kat and I always felt sorry for it. So I don't like the idea of creating a mis-shapen non-fantasy creature as a source of amusement.

Um, actually, Homestar Runner is fantasy.

I think he means that L'il Brudder is not a fantasy character, as opposed to all the other characters, and this is what makes it sad. There can really be a one-legged dog, but there can't be someone like Homestar.

There can't be offspring between a unicyle and a dog. Which I suppose was the genius of that scene.

I'm gonna laugh when some stupid guy is born without any arms and prances around with an underbite. :hr:

I had a three legged dog... >_> I don't take this personally, I just didn't think it was as funny as their normal stuff...

I agree 100 % with Gillan. maybe this wansn't the best thing ever but...at least they updated! I know we would have been sad if they did nothing.

Personally I thought it was funny but not the best. Does that mean TBC homur is slipping? I really do not think so. The whole website is basicly an experiment to see what works or not. So *shrug* I dunno...

I guess what I'm trying to say is it'e better than nothing. *nod*

I always love to see SB and the cheat sleeping. And homestar crying. Lil' brudder's voice kinda set the whole toon out of whack, for me. Maybe his voice should be switched with tendafoot's.

ACK! I'm late. Now I have to post, like on the 5th page.
I didn't really like the lil' brudder show. Not just because of him having one leg, but the SHOW wasn't funny. The little skit after the show was funny, though. But I woulda liked a Cheatday sbmail better.

I liked it a lot, but the problem was it wasn't really funny until the very last ten 2nds.

Only said that because someone else said "It's fine to make light of Homestar because someone like him can't happen in real life" ;)

Meh. I don't really like dogs, but still the show thing was cruel. The only thing that saved this toon from biting the dust was Homestar's air parade.

Since when did we do ratings?/10.

Since you've been gone. It's a result of the rate the whatever out of ten games.

AHH! Since you've been gone!! That reminded me of a Kelly Clarkson song!! Oh, and, I don't really do ratings either. I just say it was good or it wasn't.

Hey, this is my first post...but whatever...

Anyway, re: Lil' Brudder, I think another way to look at it is, TBC may be trying to direct their audience to a new view on Lil' Brudder. I think, it's possible that Lil' Brudder wasn't supposed to be cute at all, and that TBC may have found him JUST AS pathetic and hopeless as the cartoon made him out to be.

Or you could look at it another way...If you take the HR universe out into the real world for a minute (I know this is a little farfetched, but hear me out), if we, as a society saw a one-legged dog trying to get around in life like Lil' Brudder, I know there are some people who would say just put the dog down and put it out of its misery. And maybe, this is a parody on that. I mean, how do we know what the dog is thinking? He could be as courageous and totally unexpected like the Lil' Brudder we were presented with, and Homestar Runner just represents the portion of society that can't see a one-legged dog any other way.

Lastly, I watched this cartoon like I watch all TBC cartoons, with a sense of humour and an open mind. So, I'd say, it's definitely expanding their horizons, and it can be humourous if watched with a certain mindset, but if we really wanted to have a parody of a children's show, we should have more of Homsar's "Whaddya know Haddiman?". Just my two cents.

Wow, good first post, skyskid. Weclome to the forum. I agree with you on that one. I always come into a Homestar toon with an open mind/sense of humor.

More "Whaddya know, Haddiman" would be pretty cool though :homsar:

I gave this another viewing... it's kinda grown on me. I just think it woulda been funnier on something like Newgrounds or Ebaum... just didn't seem to fit when i was in a Homestar mood.

This also shows that Strong Bad has finally recognised Homestar as a person that lives in his house.
